Hello all. I'm trying to decide whether I should sell my Ibiza or not. I only got it as a short term solution to my KTM being stolen in 03/12 and nearly 2 years later I'm still driving it. The modern stuff in it drives me mad (PAS, ABS, TCS, Stabilty annoying grabby brake corner thing, electric windows, thick pillars, poor visibility, high window sills, etc). But at the same time, it's the most G40-esque thing I can find (I tried the 1.4 TSI- what's that all about? sounds like a 125 and goes nowhere whilst gobbling fuel).

Aaaaaaanyway, I find myself in the position of; it's a great car from a reliability point of view whilst retaining performance and 35-55MPG dependant on driving style (I commute 70 miles/ day) but it's a PITA from the "sports" bits point of view; Brakes that are expensive and a pain to work on, wheels that are like hens teeth and love to leak air (need refurbed). Rock hard suspension that's really crashy (I think bushes are worn but never confirmed as they're too stiff- 3 garages have checked). It's in a bit of a sorry state and needs some TLC but it's at the point where (due to my lifestyle) I haven't got time/inclination to work on it in my spare time, gone are the days of wanting to modify my car all day and night and drive it round everywhere. I prefer playing on my Xbox nowadays (the 18 year old me would be horrified). I keep thinking about selling it, and I would if an easy situation arose, but to be honest I have no clue on its value. Prices are all over the place and I can see what people are advertising their cars at on eBay, but whether they're getting that amount is another story. I used to be on forums all day, every day but I CBA anymore and don't know whether I should keep it and spend a bit of time and money on it or just sell it for whatever I can get (webuyanycar values it at a lowly £1200! :O )

I'm aware book price doesn't neccesarily reflect real life, but what sort of price does a standard 125k mile 04 go for? I had in my head in the region of £3k but it now looks like nearer £2k! What would you do and why?

You can get more than that for it, look on fleabay and Autotrader for some selling prices and base it off that is what I would do. Cupra models are still sought after so you should get somewhat decent money for it. I'm hoping my slightly modified, but good condition and low mileage for year 130 TD Sports goes for around £3k. Yours is almost 40k past mine however should still look for around 3k.

I have a 54 plate cupra with 121k and I think it would get £2500 tops in good condition. Some advertisers on ebay and autotrader are dreaming.

Putting mine up for sale next year when I order my new car

Do not underestimate how rare this car is, there are only 454 on the road in the UK and if someone wants one, then they will pay for it.

I didn't realise there were so few to be honest. Were they restricted or did they just not sell that many?

I paid over the odds for it when I got it I think, but it's been a good car, annoying bits aside. Don't know what to go for next, think I might buy a £300 disposable shitter as I don't plan on commuting too far much longer. I reckon I'll put it up for £3k and see what happens then, although I'm thinking along the same lines as darkhorse... maybe they're just not worth what people are asking? I'm not in a rush to sell it however so might go down the slowly reduce it over time option if it's still here. Haven't sold a car in a few years now, bit out of touch with where's good to advertise! I used to have about 15 cars a year at one point! Do people still look on autotrader these days? I thought that had died a long time ago and it was all splintered off into various forums.

I think you could probably get 3k for it, autotrader was always my first stop when searching for mine, although I found it on pistonheads in the end. You could always just sell it on here as you will be hitting a much better audience and there are always people after them.

As for why the Cupra TDI is so rare normally comes down to 4 things, the FR 130 was much cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, it was easy to tune it to 160 levels and it came with more optional extras.
