Hello all. I'm trying to decide whether I should sell my Ibiza or not. I only got it as a short term solution to my KTM being stolen in 03/12 and nearly 2 years later I'm still driving it. The modern stuff in it drives me mad (PAS, ABS, TCS, Stabilty annoying grabby brake corner thing, electric windows, thick pillars, poor visibility, high window sills, etc). But at the same time, it's the most G40-esque thing I can find (I tried the 1.4 TSI- what's that all about? sounds like a 125 and goes nowhere whilst gobbling fuel).
Aaaaaaanyway, I find myself in the position of; it's a great car from a reliability point of view whilst retaining performance and 35-55MPG dependant on driving style (I commute 70 miles/ day) but it's a PITA from the "sports" bits point of view; Brakes that are expensive and a pain to work on, wheels that are like hens teeth and love to leak air (need refurbed). Rock hard suspension that's really crashy (I think bushes are worn but never confirmed as they're too stiff- 3 garages have checked). It's in a bit of a sorry state and needs some TLC but it's at the point where (due to my lifestyle) I haven't got time/inclination to work on it in my spare time, gone are the days of wanting to modify my car all day and night and drive it round everywhere. I prefer playing on my Xbox nowadays (the 18 year old me would be horrified). I keep thinking about selling it, and I would if an easy situation arose, but to be honest I have no clue on its value. Prices are all over the place and I can see what people are advertising their cars at on eBay, but whether they're getting that amount is another story. I used to be on forums all day, every day but I CBA anymore and don't know whether I should keep it and spend a bit of time and money on it or just sell it for whatever I can get (webuyanycar values it at a lowly £1200! :O )
I'm aware book price doesn't neccesarily reflect real life, but what sort of price does a standard 125k mile 04 go for? I had in my head in the region of £3k but it now looks like nearer £2k! What would you do and why?
