Heres a piccy of the clay in action, with planety of QD lube, as you can see the bootlid looks clean, as it was freshly washed.

Well i made a start last night....

clayed the back of the car....the roof.....and half of the sides......i then rinsed off and dried the car.....

then i used the super resin on it.............

the clay has DEFINETLY smoothed off the back of the car, where it was rough it is now very smooth, you go through the clay stuff very quickly. I have used a bar of it already!!!

It does come off dirty but not as dirty as that pic above this post.....should i be pressing harder?????? and scrubbing almost??? I found you needed quite a lot of the lubricant.......I found a couple of places where theres been bird crap on the rough and its not been lifted by previous owner....
i was hoping that the clay would lift that, but it hasn't.....is this due to being left to long? its like a small splodge on the paintwork......like a splat but it hasn't gone........

The resin has brought up the paint nicely, but still see scratches in the paintwork, thought it might maake those a little better...........i suppose it has just being over critical.........but i am pleased with the results so far.......

Im using the autoglym terry clothes for the super resin polish..... should i really be using the foam applicator? what that be better?? should i rub it in hard?

So far so good.....gonna do the bonnet and front and sides tonight and super resin the whole lot.......then i will do the extra gloss on saturday when i can leave it for a few hours to bond..........

Ps - Is the Super Resin stuff better than the Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine stuff? or is a different product? not for use at the time i would use the super resin stuff???? I have a black car :D
 
Dont press hard with the clay, TBH mate, you only need a 3rd of the clay bar to do the ibiza.

The AG SRP is good stuff mate, give it a few coats of that and it'll be fine.

It will take work, but the scratches (Marring) will go, but remember your doing it by hand so it will take longer.

Here's a good example of what can be done with a machine polisher:

But it can be done by hand, but for swirl removal, you'd be better looking at something line megs #80 or #83, the Poorboys SSR range, or Menzerna (next on my list, as the VAG paint is tough stuff to work with)
 
Is the SRP the one that says to be left to cure?

or is that the EGP?

The one that says leave to cure, leave it as long as you can. (Dont put too much on though, otherwise it'll be difficult to remove)

If its the other, probably put it on, and then wipe it off.
 
the EGP thats suppose to be left a few hours to cure....

the SRP is put on after the claying but i don't know how long it has to be left on, im only leaving it on a few mins before wiping it off...
 
That should be fine, apply it either horizontal / vertical or in circles, but when removing it, do it the opposite way.

Ie if you apply it horizontally, remove it with vertical movement!

I'd say put it on one panel, and then another, then remove from the 1st panel, then do 3rd panel, remove from 2nd......and on and on.

More question tho :)

Basically, how many times a year should i clay the car? just this once and do it again next year?

Then how many times should i Super Resin Polish it? Every month?

How many times should i use the bonder the extra high gloss???

I normally use Autoglym's Car Wash stuff to wash it every week.....

I did take some before pics :)
 
I clay mine about 3 times a year. i reckon.

mainly the bottom of the doors and the boot/bonnet/roof are the worse areas.

as SRP and EGP won't last "that" long, i reckon 6 weeks?

Maybe shorter om not sure how durable EGP is.
 
ok, so will just autoglym wash and use my turtle wax and wet stuff for normal just waxing....

then every 6 week or so, use the SRP and EGP after a autoglym wash.... to top it up!
 
SRP isa polish, it doesn't need to be left to cure. So really thoroughly work a 12"x12" area at a time, then wipe it off. Do this until you've done the whole car. The EGP goes on the whole car, then leave it to cure for as long as possible. Once cured, it will be very easy to wipe off. Repeat if possible.

Depending on what your car is exposed to, clay twice a year. EGP in the meantime if you want to top up every now and again - the second you touch it again with a polish it will remove whatever is on the paint. Using the AG shampoo is fine, it won't remove anything you've put on there.

You won't sort scratches and swirls by hand. SRP is full of fillers that will help fill and mask some of the lighter ones, but don't expect miracles.

The bird crap will have etched through the clearcoat - you won't get it out. This can happen in a matter of hours, so when its left on for days/weeks, you can imagine what it does.

So basically....just use the EGP every now and again and clay twice a year to keep it looking good. Its only sat outside everynow and again normally in the garage and not driven very much...
