Hi everyone, has any one else got an ibiza mk3 1.9 tdi sport 110 which they have had diseal chipped and also installed a K&N air filter which replaces their old air filter within the box. I Would like to know what by BHP roughly is as im not sure ? Think im around 140BHP. Got my chip from TDI tuning .co.uk two years ago, but i cant find on their website how much it would have increased my bhp by. How much would a K&N filter add on as well (about 1 - 5 bhp im guessing)

Also recently my engine seems to labour as the car is about to come to a stop. This only happans when the car is about to come to a complete stop and the engine resumes as normal once i have come to a complete stop. This used to happan when i had the chip tuned to high but now it does it even with the chip tuned all the way down.

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this ?

Could it be lack of fuel getting in to the engine ? Should i change the fuel filter even though it was changed around 3000 miles ago.

Sounds to me like your "chip" is actually a tuning box. Have you taken it off and givebn the car a blast for a couple of hundred miles to clear the coke out, then see what it's like?
 
So taking the box off and running it without it could help remove the coke ? and return the car to normal. OK then i will give that ago. Less power though which will suck. Thanks alot. I will try that and post back the results.
 
sounds like 'slow down shudder' which yes is common with tuning boxes, had it when i had mine on with my old mk3 tdi 110, Its overfuelling, take off the box and see if it still does it. I ended up selling my box as it made the engine quite lumpy. A proper remap is a much better and smoother option.
 
Does still do it abit stu with the tuning box off but its no where near as bad and you have to listen hard to here it plus it doesnt always do it. Going to sound realy thick but here goes . What is a remap ? and how does it work ?
 
Yeah fought that Andrew. Bro keeps saying i should put it on a rolling road to see its actual BHP. Said it will prob be around 110 and that the diseal chip will of done nothing as i have been ripped off. He is such a **** lol
 
As I said before, the tuning box just fools the ecu into injecting more fuel across the whole rev range. Depending on type of tuning box they intercept signals to the ecu and deliver a different signal. This has the effect of tricking the ecu into overfuelling to compensate for (example) a really cold frosty morning where more fuel would be needed to run correctly (like a choke on a Carburettor car).

A remap changes the ecu parameters for fuelling and boost. This means that the turbo is told to deliver more air to compensate for the added fuel the ecu also delivers. Everything is matched up for complete combustion.

I agree with your brother that you've been ripped off. I'll reserve judgement about you being a **** as I ain't met you yet. :p
 
LOL defo not a ****. What you saying then. That this tuning box wont of increased the bhp at all. All that its **** because it makes my car shake at times like a tractor. Any way said he was a **** not me, plus he realy his a knob wont be happy until i have a cupra petrol. Got the tuning box from tdi tuning .co.uk 2 years ago. Tell me what you think of the product if you can cheers mate.

Tuning boxes do increase power, but if you knew how much technology went into making your tuning box I think you'll probably agree that you've been ripped off. The cheapest versions cost somewhere in the region of 50p to make, and sell for anything up to £100 or so. The more expensive versions can cost up to a couple of quid to make, and they can sell for up to £300 or so. Someone opened one on a forum, and took pictures of what they found. Inside the box it was full of bitumen, and buried in the bitumen was a single resistor (like from Maplins) connecting 2 wires together.

So despite some peoples views that tuning boxes are really good and cheap and easy to fit and easy to remove when your car goes in for warranty work and they're really good and I get 50bhp more with mine and it's really good and the dealer doesn't know I've tuned my car and I have a lot of smoke out of the exhaust and my car shudders on tick over and I keep getting an engine warning light on the dash and they're really good,... I think they're crap.
 
Fair enough guess that is just bussiness for you though. Got to say though that is a hell of a lot of profit for them. Got to say from what you have said they do sound like cheap ****, good cheap **** though lol. LOL your such a legend with that second paragraph. LOL mine is fine apart from the fact it makes my car shake as i come to a stop (like a tractor), dont expeience the other problems you talk about, but have in the past lol. Well i might consider a remap down the line however i am happy with this tuning box for now. LOL YOUR A LEGEND
 
here is my 2 cents
i was going to get a tuning box i then decided im going to save my pennies and get a remap because 3 main reasons
1.it will make the car more efficient in normal driving.
2.its safer than fitting a generic tuning box as you can never rely on the scorce of code.
3.there is more bhp to be gained safely with a remap.

one thing i was suprised with is some more expensive boxes which contain remaps that are coded on rroads and you can get the code for a changed for differnt cars these are the only boxes that apeal to me.
but then you still have to have the box remaped so the only advantages are to revert to standard and to change between maps quickly and easily.

Yeah i liked it, like your style, your funny lol. Ok well put the box back on and the noise is back so it is clearly being caused by the tuning box. Might try some of that millers stuff used it before but not to clear a noise. Got to say didnt realy notice a reduction in speed taking the tuning box of which makes me think

**** DOES IT ACTULLY MAKE MY CAR FASTER, OR HAVE I BEEN BUMMED A LOAD OF MONEY.
