What's the normal oil temp for a 16v gti ?

Mine is running at around 94 after about 10 mins, is that normal temp ?

at a guess it would vary wouldnt it? Hot or cold weather, how fast your going etc

88 to 98.
94 is nothing to worry about.
88 when up to temp with light load on engine
98 to 102 when on short blasts without much airflow

mine sits around 92-94 around town,usual conditions...fair bit lower on a motorway run

Yeah mines always sat around 90-94

I needn't have worried. It wasn't oil that was a problem on the car.

It could be but would that explain the high temps when I go over 60mph. It literally went from centre to almost in the red after about 1 minute of driving.

It wasn't like that when I set off this morning and was doing an average 70 on the m25. Was only when I got to Bracknell I noticed the knocking (must not have music on loud) and when I hit the M4 the temp shot up.

Limped home at 50mph
