Whats the problem

Was driving my car the other night when all of a sudden it lost power, couple of lights starting flashing and the engine died..
When trying to start it it would just turn over and wouldnt start at all...
Eventually the car sprang back into life and drove home fine where it was parked it up......

Then i went to get into the car, turned the key and it was just turning over, as if the immobilser had kicked in, and wouldnt start......

Its still the same now, theres plenty of battery power (for the time being), and it has a new alternator

Any suggestions

My knowledge is slim, and im sure i will soon be corrected but what about coil pack?

Is there an immobiliser light on , on the console? I know i had a cavalier once that did this and the key needed to be reprogrammed, do you have a spare key you could try?

No immobiliser lights, just the normal ones
