Whats this (under my bonnet) ?? and why is it ticking ??

Hello

Went out for a nice fast drive today to get a couple of videos of the new car and practise my launches for my trip to pod next weekend

Anyway when I was letting the engine cool down i opened up the bonnet and can hear a (quiet) ticking noise. Its pretty fast and seems to be coming from the bottle/pump thingy on the left hand side

As im not very technical I have circled it on this pic.

Can someone tell me what it is please and also why it may be ticking ?? Anything i should be worried about Hope not as the car goes beautifully

Ah that's the nice "present" we left you for. Explosive accelleration will have a different meaning when the time comes.

My mk3 best started to do that dodgey noise too after the day at pod , ive bin worrying about it but after reding this thead its eased me abit more, cheers lads

I have an question, how did you clean your engine bay?
