i believe everything is running smoothly, but before i purchased my car, i saw on advertisements, people had written, JUST HAD NEW WATER PUMP TIMING BELT AND CAMBELT FITTED. just wondering when these should usually be changed, any other mechanical parts what are advised to be changed on the LC'S? thankyou

change belt and pump at every 40k to be safe, when changing replace the standard water pump with metal impellar pump, plastics are prone to failure :D

Just had cambelt, waterpump and a new thermostat done on my LCR. It's an 05 plate and done 56k.

Better safe than sorry. Especially if you plan on getting the car remapped to bigger bhp/torque.

hi, what is vag and where can i purchase metal water pump? thanks
i just had mine remapped from 180 - 210, things seem to keep going wron, such as coil packs, split 3way hose, now again my management light has come on tonight :(

vag mean volkswagon audi group, so seat, vw, audi, skoda there all owned under the same umbrella! metal pump europarts £30 ish! your map will highlight any probs that the car allready had, just more noticable as your running higher boost levels, iv got exactly the same bother

thanks for this armo, i will be taking it to the local garage tomorrow, put the computer on and check what the problem is, car seems to be running but not the best, ive noticed the fuel dropping more than usual and i've been taking it easy. lets see what fault codes it brings up in the morning. just had plugs and coil fitted yesterday

perfect timing, (no pun intended):p

ive got a few pics of my cambelt which was 6 years and 36k from a previous owner,

Time seems to be more the killer than the distance travelled,

for 36k it was in a sorry state, i'll try diggin out the thread

yes that would be good if you could put the pics up of that cambelt :)

any bets you get 17705 pressure drop between throttle and turbo, which is most prob a boost leak and a ball ache to find, im just getting my arse into gear to start tracing pipes, its more than likely going to be the pancake pipe, im hoping anyway, post up what faults you get and im sure everyone will be very helpful :D

like steely says time is prob more of a factor than milage, rubber perishes

interesting because last time that is exactly what it read, pressure drop between turbo n throttle, it turned out to be the 3wat rubber hose, cant remember the exact name of the hose now, but it was split.

ha ha knew it, mines okay but the hard pipe coming from the bottom is completely snapped in 2, so there may lie my problem, the breathers are a common fault, as are the other 150 things i could list, very high maintenance cars in my opinion but when you get the days that there running right it makes it all worth while

couldnt agree more with you there armo, solid cars and a pleasure to drive and makes it all worth it-.
Thats the name i was thinking of!! BREATHER HOSE!!!
lets just hope tomorrow's problem is easy on the pocket and no more problems occur, have a long road trip coming up on thursday, so fingers crossed all problems are solved tomorrow, might even lose sleep tonight haha :)
