I honestly wouldn't fit it yourself, a windscreen provides a large amount of the structural integrity of your car.
Look on your insurance policy, they usually have a lower excess for windscreens. Mine was £50, as opposed to my regular excess of £350.

fitting a windscreen is a total utter nightmare, easy to take out, and a pig to get in, just pay the pro's to do it with the right tools,

by me there are a few local window/windscreen firms that will fit a second hand windscreen if you can find one, and will also just supply the windscreen, best off searching your local yellow pages

a window in a car can add up to 60% of the structural rigidity of a car if it rolls.

also the airbag uses the widnscreen to work correctly and if it is not fitted correclty, then this can cause your airbag to fail

nope for one of my 'work' presentations we had to do research in to different things.

i did research in to glass and its properties, i found that an experiment had been done and it proved that the windows in a car give around 60%+ to the strength of the roof in a rollover situation. some even said it was up to 80% but i think thats a little high.

basically the reason for this is the way the car is shaped and the way the windows are fitted then should be under verticle compression. if installed correctly glass if very very strong in this direction and thats why it add so much strength to the car.

also if you remove all your windows you will find the roof will flex with not that much effort, scarey tbh.

national windscreens did mine, they came to the house which is about 14miles from where they are based and did the job for £135 (including the price of the windscreen) this was a lot cheaper than others had quoted when i phoned around.

thats all dependant on the quality of the glass used and its 'rating'.

most people advise windscreens are like brakes and tyres, you dont skimp.
