I am in the process of fitting a dash cam, and have bought the power cable which goes straight to the fuse box. I have installed the cables, however the negative cable is supposed to be connected/screwed under a screw on the body of the car. The easiest one to use appears to be the one on the front passenger door.

So, can someone tell me what screw piece I need for the circled screw? I'm guessing it's a torx or spline of some sort?

EDIT: So a response below suggests the door is a bad option. There is a torx screw I can see behind the glovebox- could I connect it to that?

It's securing the door check strap. Yes it's a torx, I'll check what size and let you know when I get chance later

Unless I am miss-reading this post I would not advise attaching the earth (negative) cable to the screw on the moving door! for one thing the cable will get trapped and probably cut through eventually! Very bad practice to do this.

Can you advise where else to attach it to then? As I can't see anything else immediately obvious screw wise.

Glad you sorted it, going to fit one myself soon, just got it connected to 12v power socket in the centre console at the moment.

I bought this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XHYSQAC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

Although it was only £11.75- seems to have gone up but I think it's because the seller I bought from is out of stock so I'd keep an eye on it.

In hindsight, it should only have taken me 15-20 minutes, not the 90 minutes in total that in ended up taking after searching for a screw for the negative cable and places to hide the cable under the glovebox! Wish I'd found that thread yesterday- would have made things alot easier and quicker.

That's the one I got with my Dash Cam, but haven't fitted yet as I'm worried about removing the trim/plastics when it's so cold also need to get some suitable trim tools! Probably take me at least as long as you to do it as my fingers are not as nimble as they used to be!

All I used was a fork (!!), torx 20 screwdriver and a plastic spudger:

The fork I used to pull down the trim slightly across the top when feeding the cable to behind the mirror, and then used the spudger to push the cable over the top of it and into the gap. Once you have a bit of cable in, the rest of it feeds in pretty easily without the fork.

I also used the spudger to create a slight gap on the side dash trim, then that pulled off relatively easily, and then the torx 20 screwdriver for the screw that the negative cable attaches to.
