The amp Im looking at getting is about 40x25x6 (cm) and Im struggling to find a place to put in (except the boot).

I did think of putting it on the underside of the dash in the passengers footwell but I think it may be too big to fit there, same goes for under the seats. Any ideas? (is there any room in the dash by the glovebox?)

If there is space, how about mounting it underneath the parcel shelf, like in between the 6x9's? I tried this in my old car but the 15' sub i had in there at the time was touching the top of the shelf.. oh and the amp was a vibe vp4 monoblock....big ass amp

do you have people sit behind you alot? could try under your or the passanger seat or if u want to hide it in the boot you could try building a false floor i know a lad thats done this looks quite good

Don't want to mount it in the boot at all ideally, cos my thinking is that if I can get it in the cabin (btw im using it for the front speakers and a sub), then I can just run some speaker cable to the boot for the sub, so if I need to put something big in the boot its just undo the 2 terminals and undo the mount Im going to make and its out!

I've mounted one above the glovebox (my 1.4 has no airbag, so there's plenty of room). There's two threaded holes which I mounted a piece of sheet metal bent accordingly, and also managed to fit two crossovers on the sheet too.

im thinking of removing that air bag was it difficut to do or was it already gone?

sorry its slight off topic

I will have a look behind my glovebox at some point then, would be sweet to hide one in there, cables would be well short :D

Behind the glove box sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking of doing the same to mine. Are you keeping your rear speakers connected but just amping the sub and fronts?

Rear speakers are being dissconnected (well still connected but not to the stereo)

Im going to get a new iso connector, run new speaker cables to the amp, run the front components off channels 1 and 2, and bridging 3 and 4 for the sub, all will use new wires, but with old wires being left in, so I can revert back to standard if I need/want to.

oh BTW is you have an amp at the front of the car to power the sub, you will get huge power losses down the 'speaker cable' and lots of heating effect too.

ideally, the more Watts required the closer the amp to the driving unit the better.

My airbag wasn't installed from new so it was pretty straightforward - I think the mounting points that I used are normally used for the airbag. I'll get a picture of the mounting if you want?

As Adam says, make sure you use very thick gauge wiring from the amp to the sub to avoid power losses.

Here's pictures of the amp i've got installed above the glovebox - you can't see the bracket, but basically there's two bolt holes on the sheet metal plate that attach to two threaded bolts which, I think, is where the airbag attaches. I then taped a a bit of foam to the top of the glovebox so it damped the vibration of the amp!
