I want to upgrade my headlight bulbs. What size are they and what do you recommend for direct replacement as my original ones are crap. I have a 59 plate fr non xenon just standard bulbs.

They are H7 bulbs.

I use Mtec's which produce a nicer colour than the standard yellow, however the light output isn't amazing with them.

My brother has Philips Diamond visions in his which look a good buy.

I use osram nightbreakers. Great light output and look good in the dark too.

I have just fitted Philips Diamond Vision 5000k.
Look great during the day and night.
Diamond Vision 5000k is the closest you will get to HID look. They are illegal, but I have not been stopped or blinding anybody so far even though I mainly drive my LEON at night. So far so good.

Brand: Philips Diamond Vision 5000k
Fitting: H7 (for low beam)
Came in original Philips box (Made in Germany)

Will upload picture of my LEON tonight!

Good man, I've had mine fitted for 4 months and never had any issues with people flashing or being pulled by the po po.

Bosch Pure Light Bulbs. Voted best buy by Which few years ago. Had them for over a year a good light and not quite so yellow. Any colouring of the bulb cap to achieve near a 4000k or xenon look actually reduces light output. Bit either with halogens you have the light output or you choose to have a xenon look like mtecs and very poor light output. Its a halogen bulb at the end of the day. If you want more lumens then maybe a Osram 65w h7 as this is still more than good with stock wiring and wont give you any issues at mot time provided they are aligned properly. They also dont suffer with a shorter life as some of the Plus +(80/90/100) bulbs do. Just a thought

I've got bosch too, slightly try whiter than normal bulbs. Good light output. I gave up looking for white bulbs as they will either be illegal or poor light output.

Use Ring Ultima both main & dipped in Passat. Life has been good , over 2 1/2 years/80k before one blew, and I do a lot of night driving. You could tell the difference between them & standard.
