So when the car is in eco mode, does the climate control struggle to maintain the set temperature on a hot day. Why not make the air con eco all the time?

I've not used Eco mode for AC but I guess it could be like the old Eco button in the Mk2 AC which turned off the coolant pump and tried to maintain (not very well and without demisting abilities) the set temp on the unit.

Hi guys, ok so I've never really posted on these things but thought I'd give my two pence.
I drive the Leon fr 2.0 petrol dsg. It's the 2019 model with 190 bhp and 320 nm torque. For a petrol the torque is real nice. Now I've just got it remapped to 260 bhp and 420 nm torque but Ill tell you the drive modes I had it in before. (I'd highly recommend remapping your fr because the gains are amazing)
I agree with most, the eco mode is pretty much useless. Ive seem the petrol counter go UP in miles in normal mode more often than in eco mode, and yeah, the throttle is crap in eco so it makes no sense in most driving situations, just control your throttle in normal mode to keep revs low for better mpg.
I always now drive in custom mode with sport steering, normal engine and normal air con. I find the standard steering pretty floppy so I always use sport in custom mode.
As far as sport mode, rarely use it. Because I got the dsg, I can happily drive in my custom mode, and flip into dsg to control the revs myself, and because I've already got sport steering on custom mode, sport mode is pointless when I got the dsg paddles.
I can flip into sport mode by tapping the gearstick down too but I rarely do.
So yeah, now it's remapped there's really NO need for sport mode whatsoever. The FR models get great gains on a stage 1 remap and mine only cost 200 quid.

Yeah Deffo. But you get the same click kick in every other mode too, I just find the economy in eco is wasted because it really has to drop down hard to build the revs right back up making the economy element pretty pointlessI quite like Eco mode in the manual because when you go past the click in the gas pedal I get a sudden satisfying boost which reminds me of the kick down in the old auto supra. Although a little more tame
In the manual though the click only does anything in Eco. I have the 140ps 1.4 though. Still love the blend of economy and punch from a surprising 250nm at 1,500rpm. 144,000 miles and counting.
We have the 1.4 act, tried them all and now just leave it in sport, goes nicely and it gives the best mpg! Maybe I’m not suited to eco? Seems like hard work keeping it going along nicely so perhaps eco needs more throttle for longer for my pace.

I have a tdi 150 6speed and usually use individual with everything on normal apart from engine which is set to sport. I prefer the sharper throttle response and around the Yorkshire hills it seems to improve fuel consumption too.

Interesting to read everyone uses sport and gets the same mpg.
I tend to leave mine in eco for the work commute and stick it in sport when the roads are quieter and at weekends to enjoy the power response.
I will leave it on sport now and see if it makes a difference ( I have a heavy right foot)

Sport all the time, Eco is too unresponsive in it's response.
I've had disappointing MPG results from Eco, often worse than Sport, probably from the the way my driving style is trying to compensate.

Engine = Sport
Steering = Sport
A/C = Normal
DSG = Drive (not Sport)
Door lighting has a choice of colours not affected by Mode selection.
Use paddles to change down DSG before overtaking.
