Hey guys,

Have always put Goodyear F1s on the car (originally GSD3s and later Assymetrics) but have just called the local tyre place who I always go to and they say that the only F1 Assy's that they have are run-flats, which I don't want (despite the fact that I currently have a nail in the tyre and it's flat :D)

The options they gave for similarly priced tyres are:
  • Yokohama Parada 2
  • Toyo Proxes T1-R
  • Vredestein Ultrac Vorti
So, which would you recommend and why? These are going on the front and the rear F1s will be upgraded to match later.

I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my LCR, can't fault them. Excellent grip in wet and dry.

Not sure on the Vorti's, might be worth getting the Sessanta's if you can.

Had Toyo T1-R's on my old Focus. Good tyre, really grippy in wet & dry but it's a softer compound, so prone to wearing out quicker - especially if you do a lot of miles.

Had the Sesanta's on the back when I bought the car, but had mixed randoms on the front so just replaced the lot with GSD3s. I don't do a lot of miles these days as I work from home. Think I did 2.5k miles last year according to the MOT certificate, and some of that was running down to our head office in London. The Toyo's are my preference so far

I had Parada Spec 2's on my MK4 Ibiza Cupra and I loved them. They weren't amazing in the wet, but the dry performance more than made up for that. And to be honest, there's very few tyres out there that are amazing in both the wet and dry. They're pretty cheap too compared to other tyres iirc

Ahh, the Parada Spec 2's were quite a bit cheaper on my MK4. I had T1R's on my 1.2 Corsa and thought they were the dogs danglies, but the car didn't have enough power to pull the skin off rice pudding. I did however have Toyo PX4's before the Parada Spec 2's (came on the Ibiza when I bought it) and they were absolutely dog sh!t. The T1R's my friend had on his Focus ST (285bhp) and he loved them, though the down side was that they only lasted about 10k miles. Not good shelf life at all!

My GSD3's on the front only lasted me about 10k miles. I come from bikes originally where rear tyres only lasted me 4k miles, and cost a similar amount, so it's all good :D

I used to run GSD3s but switched to the Sessantas on each corner, I prefer the Vreds and find the feedback, handling and grip better in all conditions.

Hmm, toss up between the Vorti and the Proxes R by the looks of it. Bugger all difference in price, but I think I might go for the Toyo, purely because I've heard so much good about them, and the Vreds are more of an unknown, despite good things said here. Also thinking that I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep the car and I think the Toyo's will aid a sale more than the Vreds. I think :|

I'd be wanting you to knock £500 off the price if it had proxes fitted. One of the worst tyres available, made good by being cheap and loads of people online buying them

Cheap? The Proxes R? Really? They're the same price as all the rest in this category as far as I can see (£120-ish per corner). There are cheaper models, I know, but not the Rs, shirley?

OK, and how much would you expect to be knocked off the price if you bought an LCR with Yokohama Parada 2, or Vredestein Ultrac Vorti? The Yoko's are cheaper by £5 than the Proxes, and the Vorti's only £2 each more :)

A fortune. I've had them and thought they were horrible horrible tyres. The cost isn;t the issue for me, its their lack of performance.

The vortis are leagues ahead

We need to find someone who can not only fly this plane......but who didn't have fish for dinner! :)

Soz couldn't resist it :ban:
