White/bright lights (non HID)

Had a poke around in a few threads but I'm still unsure of what to go for.

Basically, I want to upgrade the lights on my new beeza. I have an 03 plate model and I'm pretty sure it a single reflector one (H4 bulb).

In an ideal world I'd have ice white bulbs (no blue tinge) but I do not want HID's. In all fairness, anything whiter than stock halogen is good. I've been told good things about nightbreakers and philips bulbs - I would just like to know what the whitest light I could get from a normal set of bulbs without going for a HID kit.

Also heard very good things about these MTEC bulbs ebay.co.uk/itm/MTEC-H4-60-55w-SUPER-WHITE-HID-CLASS-UPGRADE-BULBS-/370729320240?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5651307f30

Any ideas ? Same goes for sidelights!

I know the nightbreakers are said to be the best bulbs in terms of light, but from what I've seen the MTEC bulbs are about the same brightness as stock halogens but produce white light. Everywhere near me is very well lit at night so I'm after the aesthetics really.
Does anyone have a comparison ?

I know you haven't really mentioned it yet but the Phillips bulbs are pretty poor. Had them on my corsa and they weren't very white like stated and didn't give out good light

Different car, Polo 9N, but I find the Philips Extreme and Pluses are a vast improvement from standard fit Philips - both in colour (whiter) and useful light output, ie Lumens. You do need to change the side light bulbs to avoid the now terrible contrast.

There is a thing, have you never noticed how many modern cars with factory fit HIDs end up getting "yellow" side lights - stupid skimping, my old Passat with factory fit HIDs was the same, though the official parts lists claimed otherwise!

I was thinking of LED sidelights anyway if I upgrade the bulbs. I just want to get as close to pure white as possible. In terms of how much light I want, as long as they are no worse than stock I'm not bothered! Most of the streets around my area have fancy new LED street lighting anyway, theres nowhere I drive that requires serious light :p
