I am not a happy bunny [:@] so I’m going to have a good bitch at my car, you may find you are in the same place as me. So were do I begin?

Well how about all the COMOME FAULTS ?
There are so many that if id known I might not have got the car. Like coil packs, MAF’s, water pumps, and all the interior that rattles and squeaks, clutch peddles that snap, lights that mist up even in mid summer when there is a drought on.

Then there are all the build problems like putting polo back end on the car and having the track 30mm smaller at the rear, not putting a big enough intercooler on the for the standard car, having a plastic impeller on the water pump, putting a air temp sensor were it doesn’t get fresh air unless you are on full throttle, putting the ECU were it can get wet and does, putting the battery were you cant move it and in turn cant get to the lights, Cupra badges that flake off with a slight breeze, brake servo hose and I’m sure there are more iv forgotten.

Now I know I’m pushing an extra 100 bhp but most of the problems above happen to standard Ibiza and most of my mods are putting the seat ones right or power/engine mods that say an audi TT would have anyway. Just to add to it all the things I have done I then have to pay extra insurance on them.

So after all this why do we bother? Well could it be the fantastic shape of the Ibiza’s? or the fact that everyone on the road think its just a Spanish shed and then you get to see there face’s as you fly past them, or that pound per bhp is very good EVEN if you take into account all the faults you have to pay for as well, and the seat family (seatcupra.net) you enter when you get one, or could it be the grin you get when you put your foot down and then try to pull your head off the headrest and cant (when the car is working):funk: .

To sum up I am a sucker for pain and a grumpy git  , I love my car and I don’t think there are any faults or problems that would make me sell it but I do get very pi*sed off at times.

hmm ill second the squicky interiour :(, but as the freind from who i brought the car from said, its the bottom of the VAG range so your not going to get what a VW or audi has, but for what it is its a dam fine car :) i love mine too, but would love a audi but since i cant afford 1 then seat will be fine :)

you forgot to say the paint durability is shite too...
lacquer which flakes off the roof with the slightest of provocation.

its kinda of a Mastercard moment tho is'nt it when you pass "faster" unsuspecting cars. :D ....................................Piceless...........................................

ah i was going to say about laquer flaking off the roof! mine has just started and its on a ovni ibiza. take it others are having this problem aswell?
im a painter anyway so it isn a big issue for me but it would p**s me off if i had to shell out for it!

im going to strip the whole roof down and take it back to the wood! its blistering all over. at first i thought it had been resprayed but it is the original paint

sounds daft but for all the faults especially those that you list

believe it or not there are worse out there

mines Ovni

wonder if its a general paint fault.
Whats the paint/corrosion warranty on these things?

I've got a mother of a creaky clutch, and a squeaky interior!

Love the car though, just wish the aerodynamics of it, wouldn't make the arse end get covered in dust so easily!

It's just multi purpose spray, get mine from a local chemical company.

i sprayed it everywhere, gives everything a good shine and stoped the squeak!!

you can get Silicon Spray from Halfords, or probably any Autoshop. Its just rubber/plastic lubricant.

Ive found that the paint in my Cupra is really really thin. Everytime i go to wash it its got 10 new chips on it. My last car (a fiesta) never seemed to get any stone chips. Its pretty bloody annoying!

The only thing that can get quite annoying is i find the windows steam easily but nothing else really annoys me with my car

so what are you doing when the windows steam up

its weird iv had none of the common problems...no maf failures yet, no coilpack failures and clutch pedal has coped very well while iv had the car

but then i had something **** up on the wheel hub that almost made the hub fall apart back in october..
split a rad hose and lost loads of coolant at the beginnning of January...
and some dumbass intermittent fault that stops the car from boosting fully for upto 20mins sometimes, which is by far the worst thing ever...something to do with the secondary air pump

anyone whos ibiza has run at 0boost pressure for a few mins will know how bent this is

but for past 3months...the cars been great....except for clutch slippage

no offence, but my sister has a VW Golf, she has had exactly the same problems as i have had, coolant sensor, coil packs etc etc.

I personally love the mk3, and just remember that Audi, VW and skoda all the the same problems bar the odd rattle.

The silly thing is the ECU, but whats to stop you making a cover to go over the top of it? thats what im planning to do
