You’re missing the point Bill. If the callipers are cheap then its just as cheap to get the carriers made up rather then paying more for a set that are like rocking horse sh1t. Plus you can get hold of them easier and cheaper, may not be LCR brembos but fiats, fords and Peugeot all use the same type of brembos on there cars so there more chance of getting them.

A quick trip down the local industrial estate to the local machinist will get them done cheaply, or match two sections together!

Thing is IT IS'NT cheap when you dont know someone or can't do it yourself.. Machine shop setup charges for one offs is not cheap... fact. drawing up what you want is'nt something a lot of people can do... From your perspective.. its straight forward as it is for me... but thats not generally true for the majority. ;)

It might be straight forward for you, as I said good for you.

I'm not missing the point... you dont get **** loads of calls from people with 1/2 arsed bits bought "cheap off Ebay" with no clue how to make em fit, when they are totally wrong to begin with. Like buying lug mount brembo's off one brand to fit another... Like buying calipers which need big pad swept area which dont exist on your own brand, or make no allowance for wheel fitment with bigger calipers on there.. I've heard most scenarios.

you paint the picture overtly simpler than it really is for the majority of people.

Thats my caution for others reading this and taking it as gospel. These are your brakes after all. Failure can be catastrophic.

Very true, brakes are not something to be f*cked about with. You would be supprised how cheap machining parts are, we have an industrial area down by us (nothing to do with my job, just near where I live) and they bit peoples arms off to get work through the door, moral is to get some good advice then go get it done by a good machinist, as some places in the trade know how much they cost and charge accordingly, not for how much machining work is done. They can do this because not many people know who else to turn too Ok so not everyone knows how to draw things up and where to take them, but thats why you ask people in the know! Just like when i ask people about the 1.8t engine, what looks expensive to me could be done cheaply by someone who knows where to go.
