Winter mode on our DSG cars?

ust reading through a VW manual on our 1.4 TSI engines(though only up to 125kw/170ps?) and it states that when pressed a "comfort orientated map" is selected with reduced torque to help pulling off in wet snow/ice ect.

Do we have this option in the Cupra at all and if we do is it automatic?

I have an Ibiza FR and a Golf GT both with DSG. There is a button in the console of the Golf which is described as a snow button. It was very useful last year when we had all the snow. I think it just allows you to pull away in 2nd gear like on a manual. I found my Ibiza useless in the snow.

You don't need it.... The Ibiza is fine in the snow with DSG

I went out that night actively looking for snow & didn't get stuck.

Really? You must have had less snow than us then because I found it useless. I think if the DSG allowed you to select 2nd when stationary (like you would with a manual in snow) it would make it a lot easier. I don't know if you've driven a DSG with a 'snow' button but believe me it's a lot easier than without it

Once moving I found the Ibiza fine in ice and snow. It was getting the bloody thing moving that was hard work! That's what the snow button does on the Golf, helps you to get going

I had my lovely Audi A4 quattro last winter that delt with snow fantasticly, not that i used it much when work offers you a Range Rover on test with free fuel!

Hopefuly find the same offer again this year if the cupra is as crap as people say.

Can't see why the cupra would be anymore crap in the snow than my tdi?
I was always pulling away in first and had no problems, though that's on snow tyres

-1 m0rk, mines was sheet... Perhaps scottish snow is worse

Having spent a winter in Scotland in day to day -10C with snow & ice, this was comparable when I went out.

I think most people that complain about their car being crap in the snow are only using the binary throttle, and try to drive normally.

After the capacity ran out on the video I went right up onto the south downs up a steep hill & got up that, and nobody had been up there prior. It's all about smoothness

Yeh i have to agree, i found the Boc wasnt bad at all in the snow, seemed to be fine.

i found that allowing the car set off on its own, e.g. no gas was enough to get moving in the deepest of stuff. After that i carnt complain.

Tyres make such a big difference tbh. I loved the winter tyres on the audi!

yeh i know...

i had a corsa just before getting my Boc, and i put the wheels off my old rally car with maxsport rally tyres on because they were the same fitment. it was only a 1.2 but it was so funny, i was overtaking 4x4 and there faces

I drove my cupra in "scottish" snow everyday last winter to glasgow and back and it was fantastic! never got stuck once on summer tyres and everything! the dsg and xds make it a breeze even up steep hills! and ill be doing the exact same this year!
