wiring guide to headlight switch

Hi all sorry i have done a few searchs but not found out which wire on the light switch goes live when you turn the light on. my new boost gauge dimms when the lights are turned on and the wire needs to go to the swithched live headlight wire.

Can you help

All instrument lighting should dim when the sidelights or headlights are turned on. It's dark outside, so you need less light to see the instruments, and you need them to be dimmed so as not to distract you from looking at the outside world. Sounds to me like the gauge illumination is wired correctly.

i wired mine to the dimmer switch above the light switch so the boost gauge dims when i dim the dash lights. my boost gauge is in the air vent above so was simple just to drop the wire down
