In terms of changing the sensor its behind the timing cover just under the cam pulley the difficulty is getting the wiring out it runs through to the front of the engine. I guess you could de-wire the plug to get it through or cut the wires and re-join them but it was freezing so I stuck mine into seat. 300 quid though.
hi david. Ive got the same problem as you had but to a lesser degree, Mine wont start after being left for a few days. My question is when you cleared your codes did the cam sensor pop back up?. I keep scanning mine but no mention of the cam sensor.
That questions not just for david but to anyone who might know. thanks
I changed my cam sensor and it didnt come back up, but a warning this isnt the problem apparently the ecu doesnt put right amount of fuel in when its hot hence why it stutters, i took it to this specialist
And reprogrammed it 10min job no probs since
As soon has my is started it runs fine, no stutter or anything hot or cold. that's why I think it might be the camshaft sensor, has someone said earlier it only works for the first few seconds on start up. But im getting no fault code about the sensor at all, which I would of thought there would of been one.
