This may be normal, but just got back from a 50 mile round trip and averaged 60.4 mpg in my ibiza 1.9 tdi!

That's amazing! (imo). Is this the highest it will get or does anyone get higher?

did 250 miles back from Cornwall, mainly motorways (@80mph ish ;) ) on about 5/8's of a tank ... if someone wants to figure it out, I make it about 50 mpg (i think...)

I'd imagine i could have topped 60 mpg if i'd driven a bit more sensibly. It's a 1.9 TDi FR btw.

I did a run from South London to Wakefield and back last December and got 61.7 mpg running at around 85 mph most of the way.

I was well pleased, but sadly when I calculated it manually it turned out as 59.15 mpg, I so wanted to break the 60 mpg over the 500 miles but driving that carefully and slowly getting up to speed was mind numbing!

Still, I regularly get 50 mpg with lots of short station runs and blats down the B roads which does me nicely!

I can get an average of low 60's in my company diesel astra over a tank if I sit at 60 on the cruise, well easy.

Over 50 miles on the motorway I could prob get it up to 70-75MPG if I tried hard.

56 mile commute a day and i got 59 mpg this morning, one of my better mpg's usually get about 55. The most i ever got was 67mpg over 12 miles on the way back from my girlfriends, needed a game to keep me awake as it was 2am :( most boring 12 miles i have ever done though!

over inflate your tyres and do a long trip at modest speed...you'll see 70mpg lol (not the safest of ways but it is possible)

on my way to work i usually get around 65mpg. This is a 33 mile trip. However on my way home i'm usually looking at around 50 - 55mpg due to traffic and fact i want to get home.

How do you manage to get these high figures? Most I've ever had was 60mpg on a really steady run.

My normal work run is only 4 miles through town although all main roads with roundabouts & most I've ever got was 47mpg on a clear run.

On motorways showing indicated 70mph, I normally average only 44-46mpg. I have same car as you with DSG & Superchips re-map. If anything has been slightly better after chipping but still way down on your figures!
