Hi guys,

Still new to this so please bear with me! I have tried looking on old posts but noone has the same trouble as me!

Right went down a dual carriageway today the car pulled nicely through 2nd I changed to 3rd and at approx 4000rpm the power went flat! ie no more boost!

I turned the traction control back on and it pulled fine briefly.

Now however 1st gear pulls fine to 6500rpm but 2nd pulls to approx 4 or 5000rpm and then power goes flat.

3rd gear is tempremental sometimes it pulls through the revs fine but on some occasions it goes flat at 4000rpm.

I find this strange as the TCS light hasnt come on and no other engine warning lights have come on!

My car is a completely standed 2002 Ibiza cupra however its got a Bailey DV30 fitted.

Thanks for any help or suggestions in advance as im tearing my hair out!!

Cheers Fred.

I would say get it on vag-com to see if there is any faults, could be anything really, boost leak, maf, sensors faulty. I must say my car feels like this sometimes, it feels flat sometimes tho ive not had any fault codes come or anything, im wondering if its goin into limp mode, i dont know how u tell when its in limp mode

Do you have a boost guage or Vag com software to get at, It could be a N75 problem causing you to over boost or underboost amking you go into a soft limp which would explain your flat spot.

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I decided to unplug MAF sensor and take it for a drive. Car pulled as normal in all gears and if anything even better!

However I do now have both TCS and another light on the dash its an engine shaped light - engine management???? Im unsure???

I do not have Vag-com, unsure on that area, can anyone shed some light?

Also whats an N75? no I dont have a boost gauge unfortunately!

I decided to put up with the poor performance and plug the sensor back in, is this wise and am I right in thinking Ill be avoiding overfuelling?

Also Ive heard it may be worth cleaning the MAF? If its worth trying that, what do I have to use and how?

Thanks again guys,

Cheers fred.

Unplugging the MAF brings on the tcs light and engine management light, these can be cleared using VAG-COM

Cheers guys.

Ill have a go at cleaning it, is this a quick fix or a long term soloution?

I assume if this doesnt fix the problem then Ill need to replace the MAF?

Thanks again

I bought contact cleaner from Maplins, and that worked ok, but i think its a short term fix, and i ended up replacing the MAF.

T70DD that avatar piccy, do you have the full size piccy, and if so can you either pm me a link to it, or send me an email.

Cheers
