Shopping at Tesco this morning and noticed the driver of a 55-reg Audi A4 2.0 TDi checking his oil nex tto me while I was loading the shopping.

He went to the boot and came back with a bottle of Tesco Diesel Multigrade and put in about half a litre

Now of course he COULD have flushed out the Tesco bottle at home, and refilled it with proper PD oil ..... but I doubt it.

So be careful buying a used 55-reg black Audi A4 in Macclesfield ....

lol non PD engine oil will put paid to the engine over time, have seen all kinds of stories of internal failures caused by dealers doing this.

what pd mean and would i be correct to presume there is oil for pd diesels?

PD = pump deuse ... most of the newer VAG Diesel models are this type of engine and it requires specific oil to prevent damage to the engine internals.

cheap oil is the best stuff for running in after a rebuild

I was also thinking that the top up he did will be of such a small amount that it wouldn't have any negative effect too. but I understand you're point craig.
