ARGH!! Engine management light has come on! HELP!!

Right, saturday morning got the car revo'd and just now i went out for a burst with a mate.

- 1stly the car went into "limp" mode (just before i was going to change into 6th), &
- 2ndly after a restart the engine managment light came on just as i was changing out of 5th and into 6th at 4.5k rpm (which is b4 the redline!)

anyone know what the problem might be?

well 4.5k in 5th gear is certanly exceeding the speed limit. No. 2 with that being such a new car, is it really that wise to be doing those speeds with the engine being so tight? how many miles has it done?

could also be your intake temps with a side mount and the pressure the turbo will be producing at full load for a long time could throw up limp mode

Yer tell me about it! Won't be doing that again though after this experience! What can i say, i had to test out the revo! :doh: As for miles, its done 3.5k roughly.

Could be the new bumpers dislike revo! Tho a mate has a remap on his and it runs fine, id but it down to high boost and new engine, and you basically ragging it! Id get vag-com on it, anything bad then get them to take revo off, and back to a stealer!

rite lil update for ya'll....its not the engine management light :doh:

its the emission control light

so i'm slightly less worried, and the revo place sed just to take it down to them and they'll get vag-com on it, and fingers crossed it'l jus b a case of turning the light off, reinforcing me not to rev it so much!

mine used to do the same,

overboosting in high revs or.....

high intake temps due to gay side mount intercooler

Take it back and get the map tweaked at high revs...

cheers for the reply sisson...makes me feel a whole lot better.

So am i right in thinking its not a "huge" problem??

being revo...can they actually tweak the map?

no, just make sure you change into 6th at about 4k, as you really dont need to rev to 4.5k in 5th gear at all. what speed is that? about 125-130? at a guess? also might make you buy a fmic then to stop it going all gimpy again, oops i meant into limp mode again :p

At a guess, like you dont know!!

But spaniels is right, I find anything above 4k, in 4/5/6 useless (not that I see anything above 4k in 6th mind anyway, unless its down hill and the wind helping me along in germany!

Make sure your fully pulling off the accellerator when you dump the clutch at high RPM's. I remember James at JBS saying (a lot more technically and i may be wrong) this can often confuse the ECU and the boost can spike when the load of the drive train is suddenly dropped

I know what its like at 4300 rpm in 6th :whistle: very fast or was it 4500 rpm? cant remember :lol: an absolute 1 off though.

I also remember scaring the holy **** out of you and ed and ya little bro when i had me clutch fitted, that was hillarious :roflmao:

Back on topic, I find anything above 4k in any gear pretty much usless as for as power goes, in first, well thats all usless, 2nd is good all the way, but dont see the need as I like the torque feeling low down!

With the engine still being tight, id give it a little less anyway, but dont granny it! Its a hard one!

Nah mate, am at a family meal in barnsley this sunday, am at santa pod on the saturday after i pop to the stealers so they can try and fix me seat, as the latch has broke :( you going to pod?

rite another update.

turned the car on this monrning...light was stil on...let it idle while i plugged in the ipod, looked bak at the dials, and it had gone out!!

well chuffed! :D
