I'm getting clutch and flywheel changed tomorrow. I got mine from carpartsforless (euro car parts). LUK DMF around £250 and clutch/pressureplate/CSC for about £129. That was for a LCR. Seemed like good prices to me considering the eye watering price of a DMF from SEAT.

Looks like the Sachs one doesn't come with the CSC, but I might be wrong - half these sites use stock photos and you've got no idea what's arriving.

You'd have to confirm this, but you might have to be careful with which brand flywheel and clutch you're using. When I've looked on Euros etc. their clutch kits list under 'other information' something along the lines of 'Flywheel ManufacturerLUK' or 'Flywheel ManufacturerSachs'. That said, as long as you get the right type for your flywheel, then job is a good one, as they don't say.

Why not just get a LUK kit?
Think thats what SEAT fitted originally in the MK1s

flywheel and bolts part numbers.
The number starting with 3 is the euros/carpartsforless number.
the number starting with 4 is the LUK part number. I did a lot of research to get check they’re right for a LCR. I guess garage will tell me tomorrow if i screwed up. :)

I had the same issue. The site is so vague, but I phoned euros and gave them my reg. they will tell you the correct part and then you can order from carpartsforless (same part numbers).

Cool keep us posted! Autodoc has a lot of OEM numbers to reference, which i found useful.
Bit random but...what's your surname?

Well I had my clutch changed yesterday. All is good, so all the parts I supplied (as per photos above) were good for a LCR. Clutch pedal is so light now. Why do clutch pedals get heavier over time??

slightly off topic, but what is this plastic cap for (not my gearbox, just a pic off the web)?

The clutch cover slowly starts to sieze up over time giving a heavier pedal. Caused by hot/cold cycle and clutch dust.

The black cap looks like the gearbox breather.

Need to do mine soon so glad I’ve come across this thread. How much did you pay labour? Trying to work out costings. I also want a diff installed too whilst the box is out

I paid £392 labour (supplied my own parts) at an independent VAG specialist.

Diff is a small fortune fitted.
Hope it doesn’t need shimming as that ads another 200 quid on top.
I know as it happened to my box.
And mine was only on about 60k and felt perfect before it was removed.

Just ordered a standard Sachs clutch with DMF, but was wondering what the torque rating is for it in case I want to go for a map at some point in the future - don't forget I have a diesel, so it's pretty torquey already.

I'm definitely down on power, probably because of turbo vanes, blocked intake manifold and the like, but if when I've sorted all that I still want more oomph, just wanted to know that rating before I fit the standard clutch plate.

Hmm... The car is 236lbs/ft from standard, so I might be cutting it fine. I had heard it was something like 300 though.

I'll have to have a look at what kinds of results people are getting after remaps - I don't want to shag a new clutch as I only really want to do this job once...

I had the ARL before the car ive got now. Had a LUK clutch n flywheel when i got it.
Shortly after i had it remapped and was just under 300lb of torque.
I then drove it like i stole it for a solid 5 years without any problems.
