went to get my flip key cut today at timpsons, he said to me it might break or we aint responsilbe because its not our blank, i said okay and just give it a go, he did but ended up snapping it right at the end, i asked why or how and he said that the key is 1mm shorter then what it should be and thats why it snapped? has anyone else had theirs snapped? got it off ebay so maybe its dodgy?

can the actual blade be remove from the moving part of the key if that makes sense? i mean just the long straight key and not the round thing with button on? looks as if it can come free

I used a watch makers screw driver like a round one and a small hammer and pushed it out, luckily my key blade came with a spare one, but Im sure the old one could have went back in.

I snapped a VW Toureag flip key in work! :hide: put it in the door, walked off to get something, left it in the door, walked past it and snapped it off, leaving the key in the door and the flip bit on the floor!

the flip key info thread in the faq area answers most these the pin is hard to get in and out but is the only real way of doing it. my local timpsons suck but luckily the smalles cobbelers in the world did it for me no problems with it. The flip key as Im aware of it, has the transponde rin the blad half and the rest in the other half. Its pretty easy.

as for what a flip key is it is a smaller in length but fatter key in which the key folds into the plastic meaning u have a nice round item in your pocket rather than a key blad diging in you. It is also a bit mroe bling, if you need one for a seat you need to buy a VW or one from the vag group loads on ebay.
