Really sick LC

My 2002 LC has developed a few problems in the last few weeks.

On startup after 15-20 secs the car squeels for about 5 secs and then slowly dies off. It sounds more like a hydraulic squeel than a belt slipping. I didn't think it was too bad until I heard it from outside the car yesterday and it sounds awful

I'm also getting a strong smell of oil in the car when sitting in traffic, I've been round the back and it doesn't seem like I'm burning any (no blue smoke or smell outside) and the level is OK.

A few times over the last couple of weeks I've had no throttle response at all for a couple of minutes after starting. This problem eventually clears and is then OK for the rest of the day.

Any thoughts are appreciated....

One Of Your Problems Sounds Like Problems With Aux Air Pump, not Sure Of It,s Location But This Pump Gets Pressure Up In Engine On Startup ,so You Have Either A Leak Or Pump Might Need Changing.as For Your Accelerator, that Might Be A Difficult One,as Your Accelerator Is Basically Like The Control On A Scalextric,so All Electronic No Cables.you Could Have Muck On Contacts To Pedal Or Even Oxidisation, thus On Moving Pedal Cleans A Line And Works......this Is Only A Theory Regarding Pedal, but Would Be Worth Cleaning.regards Airpump Check Too That All Pipes To Airfilter Are Connected Properly And If You Get Someone Else To Start From Cold ,lift Bonnet And You Can Mybe Find Where Squeel Is Coming From,,,,,,,another One To Check Aircon Pump, belt There Could Be Slipping ,at Same Time Check Your Aircon Works As You Might Be Low On Aircon Fluid, this Can Be Confirmed If Only Slightly Chilled Air From Blowers,,,,,,,,,refill Can Only Be Done By Aircon Specialists, dont Worry Not That Expensive,i Think Quikfit Can Do It Too........PS REGARDS OIL SMELL,CHECK ROUND OIL FILLER CAP YOU MIGHT HAVE SPILT OIL ONTO ENGINE ON TOPPING UP.ANOTHER WOULD BE CHANGE POLLEN FILTER AS THIS MAY BE CONTAMINATED

I'm with Leigh on that one...

Fozzy, try using a few more spaces, carriage returns and proper words, you're not on your mobile now.:D

1st problem sounds like your secondary air pump, as Fozzy mentioned.
A search on "secondary air pump" will shed some light on this.
Mine sounds like the siren on a Ghost Train fairground ride!

That's ok, we're only having a little dig, I reckon if you stuck a few "yeah but, no but's" in there you'd have a Vicky Pollard script. :D
