Fireworks from battery

Hi People, connected my battery back up today and dropped the ratchet onto the battery (over both terminals), you can imagine what happened, sparks everywhere, ratchet melted etc etc etc.

Anyway... what also melted was the small assembley which holds the positive cable onto the terminal, does anyone have one of these i can buy off them? (i should imagine they are very cheap). The cable seems like its on tight now.... but obviously i won't want to leave it. I am driving to Brimingham tomorrow for the MPH06 show, but like i said... the cable is on fairly tight so i dont see a problem.

But if anyone can let me know where to get one from?

The car is an Ibiza FR TDI (2005).

Its not pleasant really, pictures wouldn't show anything now i'm afriad, a video clip would have been good, but then that would no doubt be on its way into youve been framed or whatevers its called now.
I can to quickly pull the ratchet off, burning my hand in the process, but.... i really messed my pants, not literally. Wasn't a happy chap!

Halfrauds should stock some i would have thought, pretty sure they did last time i looked, but that was a fe years ago now. Good luck asking one of the numoptys in there for one though, they would probably end up giving you a hoselock adaptor....lol

Car is totally fine, both cables were not connected at the time so it would not have effected anything that way, as for blowing up the battery, it was maybe across boh terminals for 3 seconds, all seems in slow motion but i soon pulled it off and threw it to the ground to cool it down (was glowing red). Everything all back to normal, i just need to stop going at things like a bull in a china shop.

My Dad did something similar on a Volvo we once owned - dropped a ratchet down the side of the engine, came to rest on the starter motor live terminal and the engine block...panic to say the least !

Ah well you learn by your mistakes. Like seeing your Dad refill the engine with oil, only having forgotten to put the sump plug back in first
