I asume you use "engine Braking"?
Some one once told me some thing that has always stuck with me...
"Use you Engine to speed up and your brakes to slow down thats what they are for"
I think he has a point, You pads are about £80 a set?
How much is a new gearbox or clutch???
I know what one I'd rather replace!

obviously ppl drive very differently on these forums!
then agnain without sounding funny, my LCR is ever so slightly heavier than a cupra, plus fairly more powerful so it takes a lot more to stop it!
Nothing wrong with engine braking. Your engine will be going through the exact same process if you use your brakes anyway! Your engine doesn't stop working when you brake does it

Motorway miles is the key.
60 plus miles round trip with about 8 town driving so brakes don't really get used.
no way to avoid engine braking as RobM says.

What leon do you have
That's the sign of a bad driver. You use throttle to control speed both up and down. Brakes are only for stopping or significant speed reductions (as in when slowing for a tight corner). Using the brakes just to scrub off speed is the sign of poor anticipation and/or just driving too fast for the road/traffic conditions.

My Tolly was still on the orginal rear pads and disks till about 63k! The fronts however have been done several times before by previous owners The Leon/Toledo is real light on the rear
