i wouldnt mind it but it affects performance quite a lot but i can understand that due to heat its the noise they make sounds like an airbus powering up

is your rad in good condition?

Could it be that your FMIC is blocking too much airflow to it?

Forge told me that they've never seen this problem before, but obviously I have the problem and I have a Forge FMIC.... so don't really know where to look.

I wonder what the differences are between the Forge FMIC core and thickness, compared to your Pace one..?

at the end of the day it shouldnt affect it as air flows through the FMIC not at it so it isnt really blocking it my rad seems ok, i will have to see how thick my core is

the airflow THROUGH the FMIC will depend on the FMIC - that's what I'm trying to get at.

if the FMIC itself is thicker, and the fins are closer together, surely not as much air would get through (at least not as much COOL air)

ah i see but even so Martin doesnt have the problem on his LCR and his is the same setup as mine perhaps my FMIC and RAD need a deep clean

 well done you.

I know what you're saying - and its weird how only you, me, scotty_b and a couple of others have this issue.

so it must be something car specific? Which is why i suggested radiator condition.

Since having my exhaust and stage2 on my car my fast fans are kicking in every 2-3 min when only stationary for about 3min and they have even started kicking in whilst driving at 10-15mph. Sometimes the temp gauge starts to rise very slowly never quite reaches 100 degrees an doesnt beep but it creeps up when stationary and the fans then react a little slowly to bring the temp back down.

What could the problem be water pump, thermostat, fans...............

anyone had this problem since fitting stage 2

how does the air flow effect cooling when stationary?I was always led to believe that the fans kicking in was because you are stationary, and therefore no airflow to cool coolant.(triggered by the thermostat)
is this just not normal operating ?or am i not getting this?

Jase - when i sat stationary before FMIC - i never heard the fans come on. Only since fitting the FMIC do i see this problem.

I can only assume that there IS a small airflow or something cooling the radiator... as the fans don't kick in anywhere near as much as they do now.

Or what else could it be??

Ben's seems to be worse than mine now though. I've not seen the problem of temp gauge hitting anything over 90 for a few months.

Mine has only got worse since stage 2 i am not blaming the code it maybe the heat but then EGT are lower on stage 2 than on Stage 1 and my FMIC reads 24-25 degrees after beaning it

but your car is running HARDER due to stage 2 - you're pushing more power out of the same engine... so surely THAT is the reason its running hotter.

Anyway, thats just how i see it. Lots of other people with the same stage 2 code don't suffer, so i can't see it being related to the code TBH.

The temp the FMIC reads is related to the turbo and air intake temps - not coolant temps, which seems to be where the problem exists.

yeah i see what you are saying all i was saying is that the engine bay temp will affect coolant temps so really when the exhaust temps are like 90 degrees lower than standard zorst and stage 1 and the inlet temps are still only 25 degrees i thought that would result in a cooler engine bay but perhaps as you say where i am pushing it harder the car reaches those temps a lot quicker and the ECU thinks damm its hot in here and hence why it goes into airbus mode

I really don't know mate, and unfortunately there seems to be very few people who can explain as to why it's happening. There seems to be no real resolution as of yet either.

why does my car always get the problems that people dont know the answer too and the ones that cost a lot of money lol its not fair i only work at a supermarket i get paid peanuts lol

you work in a supermarket? wow - thats a step up from IT which is what I do!
:(

Believe me come and work in my place for a week and do my job and you will love your job at the end of it, IT is easy your sat down all day lol

Pabs i wonder after speaking to Martin if we should try get a lower temp stat the one that awesome gti do for our cars and see if it still happens then

nope - I'm not changing anything on my car now :)

The car is running fine, and touch wood (*touches wood*) I haven't seen the temp rise for months now. :D
