if you want your DV to be woooshy you need an open cone filter pure and simple!
(make sure you use a heat shield and cold air feed if you go this route IMO)
agreed. i have a bailey dv30 and a jabbasport induction kit.

right so the verdict is that it does make a noise then? i dont want CHAV just want a little bit of a noise that i can hear with the windows open or shut to keep me happy
bmc/ram air/dynatwist/modshack + 007p dv = louder induction in car with subtle DV noise... sounds good
but with the windows open you will struggle to hear the DV at all!

Forge DV + BMC CDA = Quieter whoosy (more subtle than anything)
Baileys DV + BMC CDA = Whooosy all day long on the LCR
Forge Split R + BMC CDA = I can only imagin that it will be the loudest combo out there, but then you could use the split R with an open cone.

Forgetting the whooshyness of this post... be aware that an open cone filter is very likely to suffer from heat soak and may potentially reduce power, especially at lower speeds.
If you want performance and noise, follow coxw's advice and invest in a Split-R valve. It's loud enough to make a noise, but safe to use with the 1.8T engine. Combine that with a decent enclosed induction kit and you have the whoosy noise you want without heatsoak and reduced power.

Dynatwist and RAM AIR similar in volume of noise
Plenty of induction roar
Keep the intake pipe short for a louder noise
