Hhmm i do agree they are way over sensitive and pick up on the smallest fault, but is that a bad thing and also how many of you actually DON'T rag the :censored: off your car the majority of the time, yet expect it to run perfect and get :censored: off when it goes wrong?

WOW! I see a fair few hands there...

I think with the things that come with this model in particular, you can't really complain! The only reason i got so :censored: off when things have gone wrong on mine is because i never knew what it was that was wrong and kept taking it everywhere, spending money i didn't need to, to fix things that weren't even a problem and then the real problem still wasn't resolved

PMSL well to be honest i'm talking in general, i don't really hint, i would just come out and say it if i had meant that thread ;)

However, that was a very good example of how complicated it can be finding things! I still managed to NOT sell mine even after that so these cars must be worthwhile

Oh and for the record it wasn't just that hose that was the problem

How old is the newest Mk3 Ibiza??? 51 plate? Assuming thats anywhere close to right (and I really do have no idea, I'm just guessing), that makes the newest ones about 6 years old.

My last Cupra R had a MAF failure at 6 months old (4500 miles), hoses split at 18,000 miles (<2 years), but to be fair I expected it as I firstly modified the car and was pushing the limits, and I didn't drive it like a Volvo driver on a Sunday.

SEAT's like anything else are built to a budget becuase the manufacturers have to make a profit. They will cut corners where they can, whilst trying to ensure that the product will make it through the warranty period.

I know Ibiza Mk3's hold their value well, but that is becuase generally their decent cars. I drove m0rk's Ibiza Cupra last year and thought it was a fantastic car. Admittedly living with it may be a different story IF its a generally unreliable car, BUT you see more ROVERs and PEUGEOTs on the side of the road than SEATs.

Plus, often they are the sort of car that lends themselves to enthusiatic driving so they aren't going to have been wrapped in cotton wool waiting for the 3rd owner at 'x' thousand miles.

I know its bloody annoying when things go wrong, but its the law of averages that at some point things will fail, and it never happens when you want it to.

Try a brand new Peugeot 307 1.4 for a week. You'd sell a kidney to have your Mk3 Ibiza back.

My personal opinion of these cars are that they are great, i wouldnt have one otherwise ..... you wont find a better car 'bang for buck' wise, the faults that people normally have with these cars are normally minimal, their newish, they look good, they feel good and their highly tunable

I do have quiet a heavy right foot but i also give it the TLC it needs, FULL service every 10k, oil/filter change every 5k, regular vagcom checking, if theirs a fault - get it fixed asap with minimal driving beforehand, common sense really, as long as you look after your car then i think its irrelivant how heavy your right foot is (to a extent)

As people have already mentioned, their are ALOT more less reliable cars out their

Overall these cars get my thumbs up

This is a pretty pointless thread, but because it's already been started I want to weight it properly. Read this:

I love my MkIII Ibiza. I've had it 2 1/2 years and done 65,000 miles in it. It's now at 98k. I drive it for work, but I bought it for fun, based on the fact that i could take it to around 210 bhp without an engineering degree and without taking a shotgun to my local bank.

Service it; when something breaks do the research and learn about it, but fix it. Drive it like you stole it but love it like you built it, and you will be happy. Above all, remember you're in the £6k and below market.

I'm just gutted that the current Ibiza and Leon are (in my opinion) not as attractive to look at as the Mk3 (although referred to as a greenhouse by my colleagues).

If you think you have alot of problems try own something french for any period of time lol. I spent over 4k keeping my GTI-6 on the road last year

Sold a GTi-6 last year to buy my Ibiza and I think the build quality is good especially compared to the Pug!
Had no problems with my Cupra and although Ive only had it about 3 months I do give it some stick.
Having had no previous knowledge or experience of Seats before going to view mine the build quality struck me as being quite good, the seats. leather, stitching, steering wheel, switches, dials etc all gave me a feeling of good quality when i got in it. I still love it now!

I do apologise it was a bit of a pointless thread, and it was only meant in the context of a joke!!!! Just seems the majority of the treads seem to be problem associated!!!
We could start a thread that highlighted the good times, like say whippin the arse off my bro's corrado g60 down the bye pass!!!

Lets now put a ban on this thread:ban:

I've been lookin and postin on this forum for a couple of months, and from my observations and my own experiences these cars seems to have a lot of issues or is it just me?
Myself included and many others are aways moaning that something is breakin!!!

Well of course thats pretty much all your going to observe on a Seat Forum, people wouldnt come on here and create threads when their cars run normally, they generally create threads when they need help to fix something.

Thats the whole point of the forum?!!

Perhaps somewhat pointless mentioning this, but i will anyway! There was actually '02' reg and even a few '52' reg MK3 Ibizas

All in all though, like you say that's pretty much still getting on a bit in car terms so things are bound to start going wrong! So even if you had a '52' reg then it's still nearly 5 years old
