thats what i was thinking a mk3 cupra with map will get just short of 200bhp out of a 1.8 to get a 1.6 up to 190bhp either needs bigger turbo like ko4 size running lowish boost or virtually maxed out smaller turbo, im going for the second option myself, but i ma be wrong!

yeah, I think you're confusing yourself

it won't have a bigger turbo, because the 1.6 won't "push" the air to get it spun up - it'll be something very similar to a k03 in size

yea thats what i was meaning no point having big turbo on it for a small engine. isnt this engine an uprated version of the meriva vxr running 170bhp?

Well done to Vauxhall though, getting 190bhp out of 1.6T,whereas the Cupra manages 180 out of 1.8T?

It doesn't manage just 180BHP as it can be tuned much much higher than that (as the VXR poss won't) and it came as a 210 and 225 state of tune from the factory too.

Oh and volkswagen can make 170BHP with a forced induction 1.4 ;)

i think the corsa would kill the fr and even the cupra - its ok saying ive remapped mine but as mentioned before - what about a remap on a corsa. yor attempts to impress are in vain as a"chavvy" car will be leaving us all at the lights imo . jus my two pence worth ;)

10bhp is hardly alot plus the vxr weighs more . I would think the cupra and the vxr would be pretty much even but maybe the vxr might be able to get the power down better. does it have a LSD?

one thing I wish mine had is racing seats, I think if it had a better interior it would attract more people and get better reviews

why call it chav mobile ? do you all call scoobies chav mobiles i think they look chavvy ? they go better than the cupra get over it are you all just pretty bummed that your paying for a cupra and insurance when a 1.6 will beat you ? get over it we still have nice cars too its nothing to cry over after all we are only seat owners not lotus :p

hear hear!

I seen the new Corsa VXR the other day, in Black and it looks excellent. I really dont like the new shape Corsa (Yes I owned an early 2006 Corsa C shape last year) but this one looks excellent. However, I still prefer the Ibiza shape. I dont have anything against Vauxhall, but at the end of the day its still a Vauxhall. If I had £16000 in my pocket and wanted a nice and fast car, I sure as hell wouldnt buy a Vauxhall Corsa with it. Even if it had 250bhp. Because at the end of the day its still a Vauxhall. If you compare that to what you can have for similar money (few thousand more and your in new cupra territory).

The Ibizas are still better value for money for what you get.

It costs £80/1bhp for an FR and £80.50/1bhp for the Cupra, whereas for the Corsa VXR its £84.50/1bhp. So technically its better value for money :D

if I had 16k to spend I would buy a second hand honda S2000, infact Im thinking of on of them next. I do miss the roof down feeling from the Mr2. plus the engine on the s2000 is the mutts nutts.

my mates bro has a s2k jus went to his hosue at dinner (work buddy) and it looks mint. i never knew it had a hard top as well as a soft top, onmly prob with hard top is that in summer it will get in the way in the garage etc but who cares ! what about bmw z4's ?

I hope your going to buy a supercharger for it.... :D

The Corsa VXR has the same engine etc as the less powered VXR Mervia (or what ever it is) so id imagine, the mapping wont see huge results, but results all the same!

I dont dislike them, but as mentioned alot of money.. Id buy a brand new FR TDi for 13k and spend the other 3k on getting 230bhp... easy pickings then :D

no z4s are a bit dull, get your bro to take you for a spin in the s2000, the sound of that engine as it hits 9000rpm is amazing, like a true race car. balisticly quick as well. its a shame the civic type rs aren't the same otherwise I would have had one of those.

I wouldn't buy one, even if it was the same price as a cupra. I used to work for a vauxhall service dept behind the desk. I really don't like the cars.
Also, imagine how keyed that car would get with all the flares and spoilers on it. It would be a chavmagnet and would get the spoiler nicked and the mirrors nicked for some skanks poverty spec corsa. Well it would round here in M9 anyway! like flies round sh*t.......literally!
can see this dividing opinions though.
