Peppermint Nightmare
I've got a spare 16v manifold and rocker cover, i'm going to polish it up and then..........
I need some ideas of what to do? leave it polished, paint it ????

Any pics of MK2 16v Engine pays with different manifolds and?or rocker cover will be very helpful.

Ewwwww Flapper, what happened to that manifold/rocker cover. that first one is horrid to say the least. But the second one looks mint. Personally I have polished mine up, and left it. All it needs is a bit of autosol every month and its shining again. I just didn't want to be spraying lacquer onto a manifold that's going to get VERY hot.

I think the nicest manifold is the one IBIZA GTI has, I'll find it in a sec.....

Here it is:

i painted mines red and black on my 8v, but i dont know if i still like it, might go for black all over the rocker cover...

If we were talking exhaust manifolds, then I'd agree - the high temperature exhaust manifold paints don't sem to work too well, so what chance would a regular laquer have? However, we seem to be talking about inlet manifolds - which shouldn't get particularly hot. Well, unless you're running forced induction...

believe it or not it's exactly the same car . . . . . . . mine

I know, as during one lonely evening I went through all your 500 odd photos on your website showing all the different stages of the engine. Still doesn't change the fact it used to look horrid

just glad i can deny painting it :)and that makes 2 of us that trudged through all the crap then :)

pt2 has started

I am also in the process too, i have polished my rocker cover and it looks sweet, and i am halfway through my inlet manifold - i am goin to leave it bare and polished - it does get really really hot and i dont think any off the shelf lacquers would stay one, and why would you paint it, it looks sooooo sexy all shiny like, just means i have to clean the rest of the engine too.

Does anyone know what gaskets and seals we should replace at the same time as the rocker cover / manifold??

Also has anyone removed and grinded off the mounts for the horrible plastive trim??

Well the car is gona be up for sale soon as Beeza GTI has got himself a new toy. mk2 golf with an Audi engine running about 285BHP.

So if you ask him nicely, he might sell you the manifold on the cheap, but then again he might not

LMAO no chance.... I wanted his throttle body because he had it machined but told me where to go. Had a go of that Golf on the way home from picking it up and it's an animal!
