Ibiza Cupra TDI

Hi i'd like some feedback on a dilemma I have.... My wife has just bought a new Altea reference sport TDI which we really like...I have a renaultsport clio 182 which i really like ... in lairy orange... the dilemma is we just had a courtesy car which happened to be a yellow Ibiza FR 130 TDI... and it flew... what the hells a cupra 160 like?... awesome or not much different ?... cos i'm kinda hankering for one now... although the interior and handling is nowhere as good as my clio... what a power delivery...and does the cupra handle better than the FR?...just been back to dealers and driven a nearly new FR 130 and while pleasant its obvious that the yellow one i drove was a different animal.. Revo'd perhaps??? now got our altea booked into seat for a revo 105bhp up to 150bhp... any comments on this welcomed thanks

The Cupra does handle better than the FR and the extra power is quite noticable although if you think the FR was good why not get an FR and remap it as that alone will impress you somewhat, all depends really how much you want to spend,

The Cupra does have the advantages of extra hardware and better brakes. If buying used then a Cupra could make a lot of sense. FR much cheaper to insure though(?).

You'll only be upset in your Fr at the lights when a Cupra pulls up next to you.

I love my Cupra, and they are pretty quick when played with!

just changed my cupra for a new one considered getting the fr and chipping it but knew i would feel gutted if i saw a cupra. plus brakes are definitely better.

Mate...I am the proud owner of the 160 cupra Tdi....and there is deffinately no other car out there like it.....0-60 in 7.4...330lbft torque...51mpg.....and the looks are agressive...and it handles like a dream....you have to choose the cupra...FR is only 2nd best hope that helps

Go for the Cupra.

I left mine with my brother whilst I was on holiday and asked him to give it a run (rag) twice a week. He owns a Clio 172 and was upset about how quick my Derv is and how much fuel it doesn't use going about it's business.

ibiza cupra 160bhp and the fr tdi is 130bhp iirc

It all depends on how you're going to drive it.

The FR is the lukewarm version, so you have (IMO) crap 288mm brakes, a stodgy ride and a small side mount intercooler thats covered by the foglight so you get heatsoak rather quickly. The FR is more suited to motorways, I feel. Also, you may as well buy a Cupra if you wanna do any performance mods. The good thing though, it has group 8 insurance and is cheaper to buy!

The Cupra has 312mm discs and AP 4-Pots (same as the Clio V6, Noble M14, most TVRs), nice exhaust system, a massive FMIC, and suspension that feels exactly like the SEAT Sport Eibach/Sachs kit on the road. The Cupra is like a modded car out of the box, buy it and drive it fast without the messing about! (not that its stopped people messing on here!)

Before the FR boys get offended, remember I once had a 130 Sport, so I know what they're like.
