I used the 12v cigarette socket in my boot for the remote wire-connected a switch in it so i can turn my sub on or off when i want to, works for me

i was thinkin of doin summat like that. i have all my leds and under cars wired the the cigerette socket at the moment :D

got my sub and amp now, just about all wired in (as in, fed from HU to boot) but its rainin so gonna leave power etc till 2moz. anyway, quick question. the earth cable that came with the kit aint as long as i'd have liked. i know someone said earth to wheel nut thingy, but due to size of the sub and the fact the amp will be screwed to the sub box, the only place i can think of earthing to is one of the screws that hold the rear light unit in. would that be ok/advisable?

basically you can earth it to anywhere, where there will be a good metal to metal contact between the earth of the amp and the metal body of the car. you could just find a hold in the frame behind that carpet in the boot, and put your own threaded bolt and nut in there. but as i said as long as there is good conductivity between the earth of the car and the earth of the sub then its all good

I know how to wire an amp :D I know about good earths etc, but just wasn't sure if connectin near the rear lights would be a good idea (never connected near lights on any other car). But as i aay, that looks about the nearest screw i can get to

try not use a direct earthing used by another unit (eg lights), try and get the amp it its own earthing point.
on my old car i pulled back the boot liner, found a hole in the rear frame of the boot took a small file to the hole to ensure a good connection, then i put a small threaded bolt through the hole (with the earth from the amp in an ' 4mm eye' then tightened up the bolt with a nut from the other side of the frame.

to be honest, if you can get the cable up there, there are tons and tons of earthing points near the rear passenger seat belt holder :)
