Time To Mod What Shall I Get?

Hi folks.

Planning to spend some cash on the LCR (210)

Budgeting for around £500-£900.

What would you recommend I do for that money? And what makes are best for the LCR?

Was thinking the following; Remap, Induction Kit, Turbo Timer?

That should be easy with your budget and will give you a load more power with the ability to stop that power safely!

Pretty much as per RobM's suggestions, altough I'd change the DV at the same time as the remap.

Remap 50ish bhp for around 500quid
Diverter Valve eg Forge 007p
Dogbone mount 25 (no more kangeroo take offs )

As RobM said if your pads need a change get some decent ones DS2500 are generally regarded as the best

alrite lads, had my LCR 210 4 about 2 months now, i want 2 start tuning it, i have heard ppl listing many mods, but in what particular order do u think i should start off with ? cheers scott

remap 1st, if you are not planning to do any other mods

but if you plan to get an exhaust, FMIC etc, then a remap is best to do last, so to get the most out of the map (a custom map that is i.e. Jabba)

Cuprauk - I take it you highly recomend the short shifter then?

i fitted a short shifter to my old focus, made a massive difference to the day to day driving of the car, will be fitting one to the lcr in the future sometime i expect.

Most people agree that a shortshifter is a very cost effective and positive mod.

My EIP is excellent but I would not be prepared to wait for so long to get it again, do a search if you want to find out about delivery problems on them. Other makes work just as well though.

The other beauty about this mod is that it only takes 5 mins to fit without any previous experience.

I had a short shifter on my Celica and it was a fantastic mod. Made a really positive difference, so it's on my shopping list for the Leon for sure. Especially since the Leon's gear change is longer than the standard Celica shift.

as a point of interest, would a short shifter help clear up the sort of wobble in the gear change? by that i mean when the car is in gear theres is a still a bit off wiggle room in the stick. I didnt have that in my focus, the box was ridiculously clunky and sporty!

I doubt it. The short shifter replaces the engine end of the linkage, not the gear stick end, which is where I think the vagueness is. I know what you mean though, I had a Focus too and that was nice and toight, as was the Celica. The Leon is quite vague in comparison which was a little disappointing at first to be honest.

i dont know because i havnt looked, but if the setup at the stick is the same as the focus i'd be suprised if the vagueness is there. on the focus the short shifter was just a replacement stick because the gear arms just plugged on to the stick (so no room for vagueness). im totally speculating here so someone please correct me if im wrong...

Same as the Celica, the actual gear stick shaft and linkage in the car was changed. I believe there are kits out there like this for the Leon, but the best ones and the ones most people use and rave about changing the engine end of things.

Have a look at the Forge website and you'll see what I mean. The gearstick end doesn't change at all

ye, i've seen the forge shortshifter and its probably the one i will get.

cuprauk - what rob and i were speculating about is what part of the gearing causes the wobble in the first place, connection at the stick? connection at engine end? the box itself? etc. etc.
