103K Miles & No New Cam Belt?

Last week I purchased a lovely 2002 Seat Ibiza 1.4 Chill with a full service history upto its current mileage of 103,000.

The owner didn't have much of a clue about cars and didn't know whether the cam belt had ever been changed... Looking over the service history (all from the same Seat dealer), there is no obvious sign of a cam belt ever being changed...

Am I right in assuming that the cam belt has been inspected everytime the car went in for a service/mot? And that if Seat didn't see a need to change the cam belt they are correct in not doing so? Or are they wrong in not having changed the cam belt every 60,000 miles and I should go get it done asap?

Not sure about your model but pretty sure they should be changed at 60k whatever...

If you've just bought the car with that many miles and no obvious proof of a belt change then it would be something i would want to get done sooner than later..

1.2 is but i thought all the rest were belt ?

let us know the engine code to check

but in good old be safe be sure style - if in doubt get it sorted asap - you'll only kick yourself if you dont
