after doing a bit of searching and coming to no conclusive evidence i've opened yet another thread on tyres...

what do you all think of the Falken Fk452's Extra load tyres for the LCR

They seem to be cheaply priced and have good reviews where i've seen them? should I go for these or pay the extra and get the o so popular dunlops?

Ideally i want a straight yes/no answer rather than a general tyre discussion

They seem to get good reviews along with the Nankang NS-2 tyres.
But, ultimately, you do get what you pay for!
Personally, I'd stick to the Goodyear Eagle F1's or the Toyo Proxes T1-R's.
Both a bit more pricey, but will definately give a better drive and install more confidence whilst driving.

Am i right in thinking the F1s, Falkens and Toyos are softer than the standard Pirellis? It's just that I can't afford to be forking out for new tyres more often than i really have to!

Am i right in thinking the Falkens are half the price of the GSD's. Therefore 2 x Falkens = 1 GSD3. If they are slightly softer and wear quicker with still the same level of grip, you are no worse off.

To be honest I need to get a couple of new tyres and I will be going for the Falkens. I have heard good reviews and the price means even if I don't think they are my cup of tea then not spent a fortune.

I followed the reviews on here and just bought 2 Falkens for the front.

you have to look at it this way. 2 falkens fitted was £160, 2 gsd3's fitted would be over 200 most likely. falkens seem to be great tyres and i do wonder sometimes if people just pay for names. you have to remember that the smaller manufacturers often have to sell their tyres cheaper just because its the only way they will sell...it doesnt neccesarily mean they are inferior quality.

Looks like falkens it is then. at £60 a corner its a steal, plus my local garage fit at £7 quid a corner so i cant complain

Me too and with this weeks torrential rain I have been very pleased with them. That's also with a set of dodgy Rossos on the front. I think I will be getting another pair of Falkens for the front soon.

Yep you might also see an XL in the type for extra load.

I was all set to buy some Falkens FK452 today, on mytyres, and get them fitted, and thought i'd have a ring round, and one place told me the Falkens are just a budget tyre, so now i'm again wondering which ones to get, without spending a fortune.

They are classed as a budget tyre, but don't let that put you off. Budget means cheaper than premium but as most experiences prove this is a good tyre don't worry.

Also, some garages will want to put you off because the mark up on the premium tyres may be more. Budget and good reviews to me makes this an ideal tyre for me and I will definately be getting these when next need to.

I've just ordered some 205-55 16 Falken Fk452's from mytyres at £50.80 each all in, i just hope their going to be better than the two odd tyres on the back at the moment...

I run Falkens on all 4 corners and am pretty pleased on the whole. Seem to be wearing reasonably well too.

If you're sopmeone one goes on track days etc. it is probably worth forking out extra for GSD3s but if you don't the extra cost is hard to justify IMO.
