As many of you know im fitting some 312mm Brakes off of a audi TT225.
I ordered discs and pads from GSF, forgetting to ask for a discount for being a member off here/ed38
Then i found some calipers, that had only got delivery miles on, on ebay. They had the brake lines on aswell which will be usfull.
So after some searching on here and talking to m0rk i knew what needed doing. When the discs came they looked like this:
Well i knew what i needed and I found a picture on this forum that looked like this:
I printed this picture off and took it to the gentleman who would be fabricating everything up for me. He discovered, that i didnt actually want the holes as big as pictured, as the tt has 14mm holes and our Mk2's have 12mm holes. He decided to use the guide as one 12mm hole, one of the 14mm holes and drill 2 new 12mm holes to minimise the movement that the disc can do. Here is it as it is now:
He wanted me there just to double check that i wanted 4mm off the caliper. We fitted the disc and put the calliper up to it and checked. 4mm was the amount that other users had found was needed to bring the disc central to the caliper. As shown in this persons picture:
So right now the calipers will probably be done and be on there way to me. Ill keep you posted on:
How much it has all cost.
What spacer i need to fit my standard ronals over the brakes.
And ofcoarse how they preform!
Ps, can i fit my 280mm brakes to my rear axel?
