tailgate latch

Anybody had an issue with the tailgate latch ie. seat badge..not returning to flat position after you open tailgate. not if its just gone stiff and needs lube if so where and how? or its screwed. think it just gets stuck in open position but if I give it a nudge it struggles back to close.

OooO your in for some fun with the boot trim

Have a look at this. Not the same issue but shows the mech and where to lube etc..
You might have a damaged badge/spring mech though and need replacement.
