The first set I tried the bulbs were a lot longer. The set I have in now are only a couple of mm longer than standard halogen bulbs. You will need a kit with shorter HID bulbs because if the electrode touches the bulb antiglare shroud it will short out and blow the ballast and possibly cause problems to your wiring even ECU.
My HIDS were only longer than the bulbs by a couple of mm which didn't cause me any issues. I can't quite figure out why people are having problems fitting theirs though as I'm one of the most technically incompetant people I know and I managed it.
oh great I think they are too long then and I'm going to have to take everything off that I destroyed my hands fitting and send it back, noooooooooo! These have been a nightmare its took me 2 months to get a wiring harness I bought the HIDs months ago!
I will try one more time tommorow but I have fitted bulbs before and never had this problem so I think they are too long I'm sure they much more than a few millimetres longer oh great!!
i had a problem with the one side firing up after about a week and done a search on here and it appears to be a dodgy ballast but i've emailed the guy i bought them off and he said send it back and he'll replace it without any probs so he seems genuine.
what kit did you order then? i m going to get a kit soon and was going to try one of the eBay kits as the Hella components for the Seat are £200.
Oh Jam, all kits will fit without a harness but you run th risk of blowing electrics. Also £40 for a HID kit?! that seems very cheep. What was the quality like.
Right today I got an ex mechanic at work to help me and we managed to fit the bulbs they are alot longer than the originals but do fit was very fiddely and took us both a few goes to lock them in place as you can't see and there is no room to work in. He then said they looked alined but I will get the garage to check the allinement when it goes in for a service this Thursday.
Mine cost about £80 I think from HIDs direct from ebay arrived the next day and then I got the battery harness for £20 which took months to sort cos the ebay seller sent one with a connector missing and kept ignoring me! Mine was the H7 8000k blue white/kit and now its fitted looked fantastic on the way home tonight!
Am soooo relieved thought it was all goin wrong and I'd have to send them back, the guy from my work is getting lots of tea made for him from now on!!
Now to spend my money I earnt working new years eve on the rear lights now!
Glad you finally got them fitted Aimez. Changing the normal bulbs is tricky enough let alone fitting HIDs.. I really want some of these now, there's a set of OEM ones on eBay but they are way too expensive!
