i just ordered my cupra intake from teh stealers, and whilst i was talking i told him my plans and asked him about warranty issues with a remap,
he told me that it will void the warranty BUT seat now do in house Remaps for 500 + vat with a full guarantee, so if the clutch starts slipping they sort it out!!!!!!!!

Also they arent shitty remaps he told me on my fr diesel with no other mods they will raise it by about 35bhp maybe 40bhp

which sounds an absolute stonking good deal to me,

have any of you guys got this done from seat??? as im thinking of going to get it done

well i spoke to richard alexander garage in huddersfield west yorkshire who told me,
and he quoted they had done a leon cupra and that went from 230 to 290,, which is a big increase rly

some of the dealers will strike up with tuning companies, i dont think this would be a nation wide SEAT UK approved thing though

The new Leon Cupras with their TFSI engines map really well. Custom Code phase 1 as an example goes from 240 to 305-315bhp!

Let's hope it's a better remap than the one I got from the (Dutch) dealer when I bought mine back in 03...that was done by ABT and was a physical rechip (think it was before serial port mapping was common though).
I suspect it would be better given that there's much more tuning experience of these engines now.

Thing is though - if the clutch slips, what would they replace it with ? Another standard one, and your problems would come back.

Personally I'd not bother paying an over-inflated price to the dealer, and get one from one of the tuners on here for less than half the price (leaving some funds towards a decent clutch...)

its part of the seat sport arm of seat apparantly

I'm not dismissing what you say, but SEAT UK would of issued some kind of release or pr surrounding the offering of 'official' performance remaps.

The only official remaps I know of currently are the MPM remaps in Europe, offered by SEAT for the 1.9TDI and 2.0TDI engines. Which to our knowledge has never made it to the UK.

I know after speaking to a senior source within SEAT UK a year or so ago, they were interested in pursuing an official solution. But so far I've only heard a few murmurings of something going on behind the scenes. Nothing official as yet.

We know of several dealers that have secured partnerships with some tuning companies, such as REVO, Superchips etc etc. The dealers may offer a warranty on such modifications if they have sold them to the end user. But they are not an officially recognised product with SEAT UK.

SEAT Sport are, to all tense and purposes far too busy building and racing Leon's to develop software for road cars. I'd fully expect SEAT UK to source out to a third party on any future official remap modifications.

As i say not dismissing what you say, but dealers say a lot of things, some true some very much untrue. Without facts it remains a rumour and nothing more at the point.

I would guess its certain dealers doing a deal with re-map companies. The dealers may charge a bit more than going to the re-map company direct but they are willing to carry out any work that needs doing as a result of the remap such as clutches etc.

A nice little money-maker really, and they are probably very aware of the likely problems with a remap such as clutch slip and so will adjust the map accordingly to avoid these problems.

I go to that garage in Hudds as i work there, might have to enquire as to whether they'll do it on my year old cupra tdi

Good news if they will!

just a little update, its in conjunction with superchips, dont know hoe good they are but the thing im more bothered about is the fact it wont effect the warranty or if i got it done at somewhere like awesome would seat not see a remap on their diagnostics and then void the warranty

I know Verve VW up my way are working alongside a company and you can get it done from the dealer. Its dealer specific as said and my local dealer hasnt heard anything regarding it. But they havent picked up on mine yet when its been in on warrenty work. ;)

you'll probs end up with a special remap...

155bhp and 250lb/ft of torque so your clutch wont slip but it will be a pants remap for the money....

was thinking the same a less intensive remap that adds little more peformance.

I spoke to the guy at the Harrogate dealer, told him I fancied it remapping and he said that they had a special deal with superchips as already stated. He said that it voids the seat warranty but if anything goes wrong, superchips will sort it out.

Didn't fancy it though as I heard superchips were a bit rubbish

That's the kind of figures I got from the dealer-supplied map I got back in 2003.
And it cost an arm and a leg !
