Hi guys,

Im 22 and lookin gat buying an LCR (2004 225bhp) and currently trying to find insurance for the damn thing, I could get insured on the FR TDI 150 for £1000 so dont know why the trouble for the LCR ...

Anyone got any recommendations? Pref want to be under £2k

Mike

I have gathered that much but the FR was group 16! Im after some suggestions of good insurance companies for performance cars ... not the insurance group ...

When i got my LCR i was 19... i needed a new car and had a new job so decided to treat myself, knew that the insurance was going to be a killer though.
Its something to think about but the 210 (03 model) is slightly cheaper to insure than the 225, even though they are both group 17.
Also be 'considerate' when answering the insurance questions and have a named female driver who has been driving for more than 5 years on your policy... i had my mum and auntie and my quote dropped by £500!!
Last year i was with Bell, 1 years NCB, 3 points and a claim... £1900, this year same situation but 2 years NCB and bell have offered £1400 renewal.
Gonna be looking around though, people have recommended confused, greenlight (have to be 21) and admiral.
Think about what mods you may want in the future as some companies are alot nicer with mods than others.
Russ.

Thanks

Ive just got off the phone from elephant, with my mum as a named driver its £2000 (6 points!), with my dad its £1700 and on my own its £2400. Thats a great price so far so going to see if I can get the price down even more, Im only going to struggle for 2 years on this as then I will be 25 and hence much cheaper insurance plus id love to start building my own no claims now.

Mike

Any suggestions still? off to try greenlight ...

My insurance was not much cheaper when i hit 25 mate. Might be woth getting a quote from Direct Line. But if your planning on modding your motor Greenlight would probably be the best for you.

Ken

greenlight are wicked...mine was £690 even with my mods...
2 years no claims, 1 claim in 2005...i am 28...

adrian flux are another mod friendly place, but there best quote for me was £2100..:censored::cry::cry::cry:

Not planning any mods for the car really, not really my scene, if anything it will be HID's and ICE, nothing engine wise ...

admiral were good for me and a 225 s3 1200 fully comp with 1 claim (tree fell on car) and 1 year no claims and i 21

I'm 22, zero years no claims and only been driving 2 years.

I can get insurance from most insurers for 1500-1800 for an LCR. Most Cupras are about a grand for me. In fact, it'll be nearly cheaper for me to get a 1.8 next year instead of keeping my 1.6. That's just silly.

I imagine it's down to your area. Also, apparently your job/status affects premiums.

If you have a London postcode you will be paying more than people like russman who got his incredibly cheap no doubt to living in surrey.

Im 22 with 2 years no claims 0 points. Policy in my name with mum down as a named driver and my renewal is due mid March, quote so far is £950 with Elephant, this is with all mods declared incl ones im getting done in the next month or so, Remap & Coilovers :) Without mods its £800 i think.

I have a red LCR 210 and had a quote of £950 fully comp, i was 22 in january with 2years ncb :) and thats with Greenlight :)
