my mk2 ibiza 8v gti, new wheels!!

I know I've shown you the sebrings before but I thought I would start a project thread(feel free to move it if there is a more relevant category)


after a few weeks of not really doing much with the old girl I finally managed to get a decent set of rims. then today I finally managed to give it a much needed polish and a good going over with meguires bumper restorer.

Here it is when I first got it

It looks quite shiny in them pics but the fading sun helped a lot! that was after a quick wash and a chamios.

Here it is now after 3 hours of graft!

so far I have cleaned out the air filter element in the Viper induction kit, made a new cold feed for it. took the throttle body off and cleaned it as it was caked in thick black tar like oil residue. oil/filter changed. got some sebrings( soon to be replaced with ATS Cups)

To do list includes, Obtain high lift cam or a mk2 gti golf 8v cam as I have it on very good advice that it is higher lift than mine. new exaust, new coilovers, fix arch rust and replace front seats. would hope to evenyually get a 4-1 manifold and megasquirt ecu in the near future.

if you're going to be tracking it or making it rally - i wouldnt be putting ATS cups on it, bit of a mix in styling - plus u can get a lot nicer wheels than those.

saying that: these offend my eyes, those wheels

I do love that colour!

My mate had ATS Cups on his Polo and it looked good, not sure if they'd suit the Ibiza though. As David said, depends what route you're going down with the styling really.

eh? legal number plate? that m5 tou is my cousins private plate, we just ahd'nt changed them yet. them alloys looked well chav!

Not bad wee project you've got there, personally I would have stuck with the wolfrace efforts till you get
the wheels u want not sure how it would look on ats cups though would be interesting to see a photoshop done.

What kind of look is it ur going for with it?

dunno yet. thats why I'm just swapping my wheels around untill I find a style I like. I really do like the deep dish phat look though! thing is, everybody's seen the bbs/compomotive mo/oz super t look many times over. nothing wrong with any of them. but I do like to make things look slightly different. thats why it has sebrings, never seen them on an ibiza before, nor have I seen ATS cups. the other thing is, ATS cups look awsome on 6n polos, and the ibiza mk2 looks very similar. I'm also keen to spend as little as possible on looks so I can spend more on making go/stop/turn faster! the sebrings cost me 50 quid, and It's a straight swap with the ATS's. If it looks pooh then i'll just buy some more sebrings.

just bought a momo 250mm steering wheel, got a mk2 golf cam(higher lift) and going to get an ecu chip next week. will post pics up when I get it on the ATS cups.

swapped me sebrings for these ATS cups! car handles better. it now needs lowering more due to the lower profile tyres leaving a bigger gap under the arches! I don't think I need spacers anymore though!!

also got this new momo 350mm steering wheel and a shiny spun steel momo gear knob.

now with around 10 bhp extra thanks to a mk2 golf gti camshaft and ajdustable fuel pressure regulator! flats spots gone!! ecu chip next!

yeah the tyres or low profile and left me with big arch gaps now, even though its lowered 40/60mm! gonna swap the fronts to the rears to, the fronts ar 45 profile and the rears are 40 at the mo. was also thinkin of painting the dish bit gloss black?

cheers fella! yeah it was a bit of a gamble whether they word look ok or not, but it seems to have worked! it will look a ot better once lowerd a bit more. it's lowered 40mm already!

yup! its RAF brampton! have you been here then I take it?

tried that on photoshop and it made the wheels look tiny! also i'm quite lazy and couldn't be bothered polishing the dishes!!
next on the cards is an ECU chip which should be in this week. and also a new CV joint that broke the day I finished the wheels!
