i have a 1.6 stylance and last tank i got 640km's from brimming it to fumes. i dont dog it but there was a good mix between town and motorway driving. i have used injector cleaner recently though and its made a slight difference i've found. it can go below 500km around town easily though. my car has about 34000km on it so slightly higher than yours.

I'd be interested to see what people's general impressions were re: injector cleaners etc. There must be enough pooled knowledge on here for a fairly representative view on whether they're any good, and if so, what kind of changes they make.

For the thread though - I've had my 2.0 TFSI FR Leon Mk2 for two weeks now, and am averaging 27.4 mpg. Am hoping to get that up - over the coming weeks, but we'll see.

What you running her on? Super Unleaded or Normal Unleaded???????????

Yeah and the calculation doesnt take into account the time it takes to get to 55-60 crusing speed.... I reckon to get to 55-60 and maintain 41mpg in a Cupra would take maybe 6 hours, not 6 seconds......

I managed to get 41mpg travelling to Gloucester from coventry (approx 70miles) one morning in december. I maintained a safe distance behind a HGV which meant i was getting little air resistance. On the way back i only managed to average 34mpg. since ive had the car (sep '07) i reckon i've averaged approx 28mpg

fOR ME THE GET ANY MORE THAN 240 MILES OUT OF MY CUPRA I WOULD HAVE TO GET THE WIFE OUT TO PUSH

Shell Optimax. Take it that's a below average mpg figure for the petrol FR? SEAT reckon the urban figure is 25.7, I'd expect to be somewhere between that and the combined figure of 35.8.

Bear in mind I only do about 15 miles a day during the week, to and from work. Am hoping to get out on some longer runs to build it up a bit. Oh, and I've not had it long so am still enjoying booting it at any given opportunity, that prob doesn't help.

There is two different style to drive if I'm driving.... If I'm travelling to destination which is far away or I have to start travelling with full tank, cause the destination is so far away... I can go easily 500 miles with cupra...The average speed is then approximately 60miles/h-70miles/h... It's means if you TRY with all your skills if you have those skills :p EcoDriving I'm means :p Cupra is not for that kind of Driving, but If YOU WANT IT... it's possible !! I have training that kind of driving about over 10 years, so it is easy for me now, but its means that you have to train your skills several years ....

Everybody can drive like a Race Driver just like pedal to medal, but its not so easy to drive economic as much you can to get the farrest destination with only one full tank ...

I'm not a grandma or grandfath..driver !! Every day I have plessures with my car and show pedal for my car :p

 So do I even 6 months on:D

I ran mine on Super Unleaded for the first 5000 miles and then, as an experiment, changed to normal unleaded. Results to date can be seen at the thread entitled DSG TSFi Mpg.........

Erm, don't want to offend anyone here, however... reading the posts above, it is all the CUPRA owners questioning fuel return!

Why buy the Cupra and then try to drive slowly because of the MPG? Makes no sence to me. If you can't stand the TFSI engines fuel consumption, why not get the TDi instead? I'm sure everyone chose the TSFI engines in Cupra's and FR's themselves and knew the fuel return the car would produce?

I for one did not buy the Cupra to save on my fuel costs and have a great MPG. I don't pretend to drive it slowly, or question the expense. Just for the reccord, I mentioned this earlier, but only get about 220 miles from the Cupra and find that acceptiable.

I'll await the flaming ;)

Me too. To be fair I don't pay too much attention, and fill it when the light comes on, and always with V-Power.

exctly mate, i bought one for the smiles per gallon :D

Ditto. Wouldn't have got mine if I didn't have that spare bit of cash to waste!

Having got mine yesterday and taken it for a run today I was surprised to get 175 miles out of half a tank considering a) i was hoofing it just a little bit and b) the other halfs Stylance practically p***ed fuel when she first got it and I expected even worse from the Cupra.

Yeah..!! Thats not the dilemma and idea...!! I just bring out the fact that IF YOU WANT you can..!! If you have these skills..!! Low fuel consumption dont mean that you have to drive SLOW or you miss speed or time when you driving through the city or you just have to move yourself with car A to B.... Everybody thought that low fuel consumption means and needs one grandma on driver bench ..thats not true...!!

This dont mean that I'm a grandma :p but if you just collect some tips or just training little bit of these kind of driving method you should know sure and see the results that its not bullsh**..... :) and save money... :)

Yes it has the xenons. Glad I waited, they make a big difference. However as I went to collect it the car was being drove away - the dealer wasn't happy with the valeting as they'd missed a bit. A little later the "bit" turned out to be some scuffing on one headlamp which they went to swap out (an hours job) only to find out the one in stock was in even worse condition. So that'll get done when a new one comes in.

As for pics, that means I'll have to wash it!

Back on petrol - no sooner had I (accidentaly) hoofed it of the forecourt then petrol light came on but soon settled itself.... And I got some nice comments about the car of the "old dear" in the local Shell station who even knew what I was driving!

I have a 1.6 Petrol and we seem to be getting below 300 miles to a tank – this seems very low to me, and is costing a fortune in petrol  . The car is used for a mixture or town and motorway driving. It has 12K on the clock and is about 13 months old.

I too have a 1.6 petrol Leon. From a fully brimmed tank I get between 300 and 335 miles out of a tank, usually filling up when computer says 30 or 40 miles to empty. Thats a mixture of town driving in traffic and dual carridgeway. About an average of 34 mpg.

No "flaming" my friend but it is nice to be able to buy a car with no worry about how much it is going to cost to run. I personally would have stayed with the Mk11 Fr Diesel except for the "possible" DPF problems on "short journeys". Consequently I bought the Petrol FR DSG which, with the recent increases in petrol and diesal prices, I am glad I did!

All I am saying is some people buy cars with no worry about what it costs to run but others buy the best car they can on a strict budget

Haven't yet managed to get over 250mls per tank which is fine since i used to get half that in my 2.9 Storm. Bet a long journey at a steddy speed with the cruise would see 350+.
