All right folks, been an avid reader on this Forum for a while now and have finally became a member.

Read many informative posts regarding remapping of the FR 170 engines. I am at the stage where I want (as we all prob do) more power from my prized but totally standard FR TDI… Apologies for asking the same old question… but as I see Drivers in Glasgow (very local for me) now provide a REVO stage 1 remap for the TDI 170 engines, could anyone give me constructive feedback on this remap, ideally from Drivers in Glasgow.

This then leads to the obvious DPF (i worry) / insurance (i worry again) / warranty (dont know if i care) issues? I would welcome any advice on other remap’s etc too.

I have looked at a MkII Cupra as a power upgrade option (nice!), but my daily mileage and lack of money mean this option just wont happen : (

Ill look forward to any feedback, horror stories or just to be told DO IT you will never look back…

Cheers folks,

P.s: any recent pics of new RS4 wheels on MkII Leons? Im sure i saw a red TFSI in town the other day with these and it looked well nice...

Thanks for contact number, i may give you a call soon Will, although i may be too far north (Glasgow) to make a remap practical...

cheers again

Will mapped my 170 last week mate, done 600 miles since then, the only issue i've had is the turbo catches me offguard sometimes booooooooooooooooooost all though to be fair its not really an issue :d
100% impressed mate get it done.

How did it affect MPG?

well i only had the car 1 day before i had it done ;)
but on my journy to work (15miles, **** traffic) i get 40MPG, and i got 47 on the way back from ptorque down the M6

most of the IBIZA TDI's i have seen mapped seem to have there MPG increased. not sure if this is the same for the petrols thou.

I took mine to be remapped by custom code, and it couldn`t be done?? Mine was built in october 07 and has a later siemens ecu, not the bosch one?? The garage had previously done a 170 leon with a bosch ecu.
So am waiting for custom code to get the upgrade/whatever and do it at another date.....

Anyone else heard of this, I think he said it was a ppdi? or something:shrug:

here, that’s just what I wanted to hear,. Sounds sweet! I really need feedback from a Glasgow (or local) based mapper though... I take it your car is again like when you first drove it? I still sometimes revel in the kick when the wheels give enough grip in second / third to push you back in the seat when flooring it! Nice! Maybe ive just got to used to car and should just drive the wife’s car for while then get back in mine.... Anyway im talking nonsense, thanks for feedback bud, Wills re-map does sound wicked...

There will be a Revo dealer near you who do a decent map for the 170 , I am getting mine done in Aberdeen shortly ... There is also the BSR ppc unit which will let you take the map off and on when you want before a visit to the dealer for warranty work ...

I tried Drivers in Glasgow for a REVO map but they had problems with mapping the ECU and said that there might have been a problem with it.
I can't really complain about Drivers or REVO as both companies tried to make it work and kept me informed at all times when they had the car in the shop.
I ended up going to J. Gracie in Duntocher for a Custom Code remap instead and they had no problems with flashing the ECU. It was done with no problems and can't really fault it at all. Been running with the new map for a month now and still getting used to it but the car feels so much smoother.

Cheers for feedback mate. Glad your power increase is smooth all the way! I called Drivers last week and they said they were having 2 170's in (should be done now, 1 A3 and maybe an FR)... I keep mentioning Drivers as I don’t know any others in Glasgow. The lad on the phone reckoned that there would be no issues with the 170 ECU... although they would not know until they try to remap I suppose

Ill give Revo / Custom Code / Superchips a Google for Glasgow area again...

Cheers

Custom Code are running a 30% discount if that helps makes your decision. They are also a sponsor of the site so you could always give them an email if you have any questions. The same goes for REVO Technic as well.
