Ive been looking to get hold of the facelift sides kirts for my pre-facelift cupra and after looking at the dealer, they want £75 each side plus £20 for fitting kits so £190 unpainted which gave me the idea of buying the fiberglass replicas sold on ebay:

My question is, has anybody else gone this route? Are they any good? i know they wont be as good quality, but for £60 is this a better way to go?

any help or suggestions welcome :)

I hadn't thought about the jacking covers! I saw a thread in the toledo section a while ago, but can't find it using the search and can't remember the conclusion they came too.

Well tbh find where the jack slot is and cut a hole in the skirt for it. :)

for that price i dont think you can go much wrong, Id steer clear of bumpers due to the brittle nature of them but for skirts cant see many problems.

personally I'd say best bet is to try and find one being broken, and then use the replicas as a final resort. depends how patient you are though. They are several specialist breakers yards around mind as well

Fancy sharing these since you spotted me tuther week :D

hi there
on genuine skirts, on the inside they have 7 flaps running on the inside whihc goes over the clips
do the replica ones have these??

Not sure on the quality aspect but as for the jacking point covers I wouldn't be bothered. I have not seen a single time where they have been used. Always a trolly jack has been produced and straight under the car. Only really useful if you want to use your own jack at the roadside. I personally couldn't be arsed and that's why I got AA cover. So muggins can stand in the pissing down rain and change my wheel

aaah it was you was it! love your led DRL's, look very nice. Where did you get them from btw?
I'll get the numbers although not sure how local they are to Berks, - I said there are some around, not necessarily around here!! lol.

All the best car owners are called James :D

hello ,,, side skirts hey? right heres what i know, the people on ebay called carloving crimnals, are good bodykit people, there fibre glass ones look good, but the biggest problem you will have, will be getting a body shop to fit them!!!! they are very fillmesy and they have to be silconed on!! i bort some for my mk4 golf gti look awesome when there on but if you bottom out they will fall a part, there is a lcr in black for breaking on ebay, they still had the side skirts last night!! so try ebay, dont get me wrong the fibre glass are good, but may be more hassle than worth!!! good luck

Cheers for the info Slim, but some lucky bugger got there before i did! guess you just gotta be on the ball all the time looking for salvage parts! The idea of bottoming it does worry me as there are plenty of speed bumps and i was forever grinding my E36 before the Cupra so the rididity would worry me, buyt i cant be forking out £190 plus paint new so will just have to keep an eye out

well i would say,buy the ebay side skirts, when they sell the mk4 golf rear spoilers they send a really strong black silcon glue with them, order the side skirts and make sure they send you some!! or on the other hand find a body shop you know and trust, and ask what they recomend!!! i can recomend one in the south west that i use!! prob way to far for you to travel!! ebay one s look good just make sure they dont flap about in the wind!!!! good luck!!!

Scotty, I got the whole body kit, angle eyes & fogs from brendanb1801 this week!

The side skirts have tabs on the back edge, which a presume corrispond to fixing locations on the body. i think I will be using Tigreseal as well on these!
