What does this dash light mean?

I got in the car this morning, started her up (fine) and this light No.10 (not my picture BTW) stayed on, with no other lights on in the dashboard. The manual says 'Diagnosis*/Excess of pollution'

Can anyone enlighten me as to what it really means, apart from going into the dealer and having it checked over.

Engine management light (EML). You need to get some sort of diagnostics done, vag-com etc.

a fault has been logged on your ecu. as said vag com or dealer diagnostic should be able to find the fault

where on the south coast?

new steering wheel about a week ago also, thats all.

After a quick call in to work, the diagnosis pointed to a poor glow plug, only done 25k tho. Hope to get sorted next week, under warranty with luck!

**UPDATE** All sorted under warranty. Glow plugs ok, just the wiring loom to them was all split!

I got the exact same thing come up a few days ago, unfortunately its not under warranty. I havent felt anything different in the car, I've made an appeal to use someones VAG-COM.

Hi,

Was driving my new Leon home earlier and this light came on for me too.

If I take it down to my local Seat dealer will they be able to diagnose the fault with out an appointment, and will they charge me for this?

No I felt no difference to the car either!

I hope its something small. I have changed the coils, termostat and temp sensor recently and all were running fine for about 6 weeks

O yes will they. Unless you are under warrenty or give good head!

Thanks very much for offer. Local dealer very helpful and did not charge. Basically have brought a heap of ****: 27 faults from airbags to turbo!!! Am getting a refund then will look for a new one!"

I get the light coming on sometimes. Having had a look turns out its because I ripped out the EGR valve and its telling me my emissions maybe high.

Possibly or it blew for being on too long (joke)

Is it still coming on when all the idiot lights come on?

it just flashes at the beginning along with the other idiot lights at start-up and then disappears as per normal, might still get a vag-com done to be on the safe side

Mine stays on sometimes, sometimes it flahs', sometimes it is off. I know what my fault is though.

is it safe to drive for a while with this light on? mine doesnt flash either but i really need my car. Im awaiting software arriving. not paying £65 just for someone to tell me what the problem is. That to me is a effin joke. it must take a good 10mins!
