I've been on this forum for a couple of weeks now and noticed quite a few mentioned faults appearing here and there, and it's got me wondering.

Is the ibiza mk4 a reliable car?

And would it be a good first car (1.2 version)?

Thanks for any help![B)]

as a 1st car the 1.2 should be fine. decent insurance and tax.

may have some common "fault" issues with others which I'm sure someone will tell you what they are, but which car doesn't? All depends how you drive. If you look after the car, the car will look after you ;)

It's a big forum (lots of members) so the best thing to look at is percentages

Also as I said on another thread a while ago "nobody ever seems to post up saying the mk4 is fine, no problems this year" they all seem to post up with problems

Personally mine is that good that it's the first car I've ever kept once the warrenty ran out, none of the others gave me the confidence to keep them without any warrenty

We dont want to jinx ourselves now do we ;)

Mine has been a great motor over the year I have owned it, abit of a novelty after owning a mk2. Just hope everything stays as it has been (Touches wood)

if you want it all get a golf mk4 as if you like to pick holes in cars rattles ect the ibiza isnt for you but if you cant afford that then get the ibiza and put up with the little things simple

i love my ibiza and it would be 100% reliable if id left it alone :D

Depends on what you term as reliable. Even though my car has always rattled like a good un, and its just snapped a suspension spring, its never actually let me down or left me stranded. Im just putting current problems down to wear and tear - My car is now 5 years old so you can always expect somthing to go at that age.. People with the 1.2s seem to have problems with "Coil Packs" going....
